Give me Streets of Rage any day.
Meh.
People here are always dropping exclusive GC titles that were nothing of the sort. It irks me.
> By the way, Ikaruga isn't a GC exclusive and I'm sure a Harvest Moon
> game was out for the Playstation.
And your point is? Ikaruga is only available on the GC for a next gen console, true the DC had it, so it's nothing that special in terms of exclusivity, but it was never heralded as that. Harvest Moon?! Harvest Moon: it's a Wonderful Life, is ONLY on Gamecube. There might have been games from earlier in the series on Snes/PSone etc, but the new iteration isn't. It's like saying Final Fantasy wasn't Psone exclusive because the Snes has it beforehand.
Anyway - Metroid Prime does tell the story - Samus is investigating the disturbance, Ridley turns up (who, surprisingly, she has met before) and she follows, while the Red scan objects (the ones that actually count to % complete!) tell you what has been going on befoere you got onto Tallon IV.

Rare*
To be honest, the line between first- and second-party developers is a blurry one - the defining characteristic is that second-party developers stand out from the manufacturer, while first-party developers are considered to be more or less a "division" of the console maker itself.
*Formerly, of course - additionally, while Rare does make GBA games, it still makes games for the Xbox exclusively, and therefore 2nd party.
> Therefore Metroid Prime is a first party game, like Mario and Zelda.
That's my point, it isn't. It isn't anything like Mario or Zelda or Pikmin, and that's because Retro were in charge of development. It doesn't make it any les of a Nintendo masterpiece, though.
