Whilst rumours fly around that these are fake pictures, I think there is a good chance that they could be real. And if they are real...is it just me or does it look a tad on the ugly side?

I'll reserve judgement until an official press release...

Why would I want to do that? I don't work for Nintendo's marketing department so I feel no need too.

I don't sit down and do that when I buy a new toaster so why would I want to do that with gaming hardware. I want a DS because it appeals to me, before yesterday I wasn't the slightest bit intrested in handheld gaming, but when I clapped eyes on the DS and realised it could play Animal Crossing and Mario 64 amongst other things and it only costs £100, I couldn't help but want one.

Control over the whole Wario Ware will be done by using the touch screen. But these are only the early games, the majority of the major 3rd parties aren't even beggining to display what they're gonna do with the technology

That's nice, so does mine.

A portable Playstation with no end of extras that will bump up the shop price no end. If you want all manor of gadgets then PSP is the way to, however if you're just looking for a cheap option and only really are intrested in games then DS is the right for you.

DS is a portable piece of gaming hardware, last time I checked it certainly wasn't a gimmick. Maybe Nintendo haven't exhibited the full extent of what they're gonna be doing with the hardware, but it really is early days.

*scratches head*

You see, the only person I've seen making these comments are you. The 3rd party manufacturers seem to have no problems with the hardware and neither do Nintendo. It's there for gaming, not MP3's and god knows what else the PSP has under that black case of its.

The point of having a handheld is to then play the game at home? You guys are getting a bit confusing, that's like saying that you'd rather watch a 6" portable TV than a 28" Widescreen.

Granted people do play them at home, and there's nothing wrong with that, but to say you would never take advantage of it's portability seems plane crazy.

Maybe that's why you guys can't form a valid arguement as to why the system's hardware features are worth having, you definately haven't convinced me, but if I have a lack of facts you guys are showing unbelievable blind faith by proclaiming the system the way you do with the same lack of facts.

It's maybe about time you sat down and asked some questions about what the point in the new hardware is, what can be done for it and why on earth it seems like a decent idea.

I'll give you a little hint about our discussion, I've read about every game on IGN, and the aiming and firing system on the DS version of metroid sounds like it's actually something worth having, might be a gimmick that gets annoying after 10 minutes, but it's the only thing even remotely like a game on the system to use the touch screen capabilities.

My judgement on whether I'd want a PSP or a DS remains unchanged though.

I'd rather have a PSP than a DS, because it's much more than a gimmick at the moment. It's exactly what it claims to be, a PlayStation Portable.

I'm still not sure what Nintendo wants the DS to be yet, and no one else seems to know either, other than a spiritual successor to the Game and Watch.

You'd also look like a right pleb sitting on a bus/train playing a PSP/DS/GBA or anything. People look like idiots playing Snake on mobile phones.

Not really a new way to play a game though, just a very convinient and probably the only way of playing a game such as Animal Crossing properly. Definately the first use of the screen I've heard about that's actually influencing gameplay, but if the DS has voice capabilites, why not just use that?

Oh yeah, because you'd look like a right pleb sitting on a bus/train talking to a games console :D

What do the sales of the GBA have to do with the DS?

The GBA will be supported alongside the DS, therefore in competition with the DS.

The DS is not being released as a successor to the GBA so your comment doesn't make any sense.

If you care to elaborate on why the sales of the GBA mean the DS will be successful with people who buy into the Gameboy brand and not just the Nintendo brand, I'd be willing to listen.

Those probably aren't the best example of dual screen yet.

Not EVERY game is going to make full use of the screens.
The best example I've seen so far is animal crossing.
It gives you a mini keyboard for real time conversation in online play.
Possibly with AI characters too.

I'm sorry, what does that have to do with your previous post? Nothing? Oh I see, you were 'dancing around it'.

Are any of your statements 100% true? Are any of them evenly remotely true? Can you prove any of them?

The pre-e3 games conference had Metroid DS and Mario 64x4 playable on the DS.

All metroid has on the second screen is a map, and all mario has is a screen showing the 3 other players position on a top down map.

Oh yeah, Mario 64x4 was multiplayer, that was cool, but not because of the DSs dual screens, and definately not innovative.
