Ahem...the point of a democratic government is that its people have a choice in leadership. Despite the current conditions in Iraq the current government is one its people got to vote on.
This is far removed from Saddam Hussein's rise to power.
Can't say I know the details of the trial, but surely it'd be impossible to get people who are 'neutral' to decide the outcome in this case...? Everyone in Iraq and people all over the world know who Saddam is and know about the crimes he has committed (or is alleged to have committed).
