Post any films you have seen recently (cinema, DVD or TV) along with a short review.

Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

7/10

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

It was a deliberately provocative call to arms for would-be vigilantes that glamourised violence.
The reason Law Abiding Citizen was a better film was because it knew it was stupid and excessive and tried to entertain, while Harry Brown represents itself as a worthy and gritty view of Britain, when infact it's ridiculously overblown farce intended to anger people.

I've seen it before but I genuinely love this film, up until the last stupid word

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

Wrong Turn 2, that movie about the inbred cannibal hillbillies, was very disgusting even though i saw it on cable TV with editing and commercials (SyFy channel to be exact). Not the worst movie i have ever seen but still pretty bad.

I like the Saw movies, Especially Saw 3 and Saw 4. Their pretty good movies if you like that kind of stuff. I enjoy seeing and wondering what Jigsaw is going to do next.

Watched Mad Max on the TV the other night, hadn't seen it in ages.It looks dated but it's still a cool film, even if Mel Gibson does look about 12 in it.

I only enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall because of the awesomeness that is Kristen Bell.

As for Justin Timberlake, I absolutely understand what you mean. I'd actually forgotten he was in it though, and the film as a whole is pretty damn good, so you must see past this!

Inception - 8/10

My thoughts on this one are well-known. Easily the most over-hyped film of the year and while it looked pretty (not quite as good as Avatar and nowhere near Tron, from what I hear) it was dull, too long and ran over ideas I've seen several times before. I've not been that bored in a cinema since I was young. If a family member buys me this for Christmas because it is 'sci-fi', I will feign gratitude but die a little on the inside.

Get Him to the Greek - 5/10

Probably fair, but I did actually enjoy this, mainly for the songs in it. As these were my favourite part of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' this is hardly surprising.

The Social Network - 9/10

Still not seen this, Justin Timberlake was putting me off, but I 've heard only good things about it so plan on doing so sooner rather than later.

The few films I've seen recently:

Inception - 8/10
I enjoyed this quite a lot, though contrary to popular belief it's not actually that hard to keep up with. I'd heard so much about this film over the last few months and perhaps it didn't quite live up to my expectations but I would certainly recommend checking it out when you can (especially as it's just come out on DVD/Blu-Ray).

The Expendables - 7/10
Exactly what I was expecting and enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. Shame it took me quite so long to watch it though.

Get Him to the Greek - 5/10
Pretty lame, though there were a few moments where I found myself chuckling. Somewhere in between Knocked Up (hated it) and SuperBad (loved it) in comparison.

The Social Network - 9/10
Really enjoyed this as I knew I would (thanks to Aaron Sorkin). Not much more to say apart from make sure you watch it.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World - 6/10
I know this score will offend a few of you, Butch in particular. I thought this film would be right up my street when I considered the kind of people who were really loving it, and the kind who absolutely hated it, but I actually turned it off halfway through when I begain watching it as I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. A few days later I convinced myself to watch the rest, and ended up having a change of opinion almost entirely. I quite enjoyed it by the end, but what with it not holding my attention fully and not quite being what I had hoped, a 6 it is.

Dreadful crap. A film so fear mongering, unpleasant, depressing and outright stupid that it could have been written by the Daily Mail themselves.

A little harsh, I feel. While the film was a little 'Daily Mail-ish' it was certainly watchable still and something I would watch again at some point.

Keeping the thread going, saw Zombieland last week and, not expecting anything great from it, was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. While I find Woody Harrelson very hit and miss he was exactly what this film needed to add the comedic element. Not quite on par with 'Shaun of the Dead', but pretty close.

Thread resurrection time.

The Town 9/10 : Ben Affleck's second film as director proves that Gone Baby Gone was no fluke,a top class crime flick.

Anyone seen anything else good recently ?.
