Post any films you have seen recently (cinema, DVD or TV) along with a short review.

Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

7/10

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

I saw a film the other night on the TV called "The Girl with the Pearl Earring". I didn't watch the whole thing as I was tired but it was really good, so I might pick it up on DVD.

As far as "Hard Candy", I have seen it, and I personally found it quite good, though it's definately not for everybody!

Watched a film called B***h Slap last night on LoveFilm on my PS3. It really was a hark back to the old 80's B movies in that it was poorly acted, the sets were terrible and the film relied on it's buxom trio of leading ladies to get it through a poor script and terrible story.

Still, thanks to the last point, we have spent worse 90 minutes watching films recently (Inception, Karate Kid etc.) so was rather enjoyed by one and all.

Monkey Shines

I did not like it very much. I mean it was okay, but it was just boring and somewhat strange.

I have heard of Hard Candy and it sounds like a very strange movie. I have no intention of seeing it.

Went to see Despicable Me with the kids at the cinema last week on a 95p ticket. Was far better than I expected, some real laugh out loud moments, though we were the only ones to get the Burro joke.

Went to see Tron: Legacy last night. Had heard a few average reviews for it so my hopes weren't high, but it was very watchable and actually quite good. The 3D element did feel very 'tacked on' though (we even received a message informing us the film had several 2D scenes) but saying that, the 3D scenes in The Grid were really good.

The nods to both the original film and the era it was made in were also nice touches with many of the sounds and looks making their way into the film.

The main problem I had with the film was the fact that Clu was the only CG character and, while I appreciate he needed to be in order to have the young Flynn in the movie, it was a little distracting.

Still, a solid 7/10. Go see if it you enjoyed the first film, like looking at aesthetically pleasing women, or have always wanted an Avatar/Matrix mash-up.

I never finished Tokyo Drift but i would recommend the new Fast & Furious movie to anyone who loves action and/or street racing films, Even though there's only like one actual street race in the entire movie.

Nin,agree with you (for once !) regarding The Hurt Locker.I thought it was a good, well made film but not an outstanding one.Thought Jeremy Renner was very good in it as he was in Ben Affleck's The Town (where he played a similar type of character). That was a better film than The Hurt Locker IMO.But I would be surprised to see that nominated for a best picture Oscar next year TBH.

I saw The Hurt Locker recently. Excellent.

I saw that recently and while it's quite well made and tense, I couldn't for the life of me work out why it won Best Picture. It's OK but really nothing special. Precious would have been a more deserving winner or A Single Man, which I'm disgusted didn't even make the final 10 nominations.

I thought Harry Brown was watchable enough, didn't think it tried to portray a realistic and gritty view of Britain.I found it passable and mildly enjoyable nonsense. It was a bit like a British Death Wish with an OAP.Law Abiding Citizen on the other hand I just found so ridiculous it ended up annoying the hell out of me.That robot thing with missiles on it,what the hell ?!?!.

Anyone know where I can import a copy of this on Blu Ray ?
