why do people enjoy playing such an un-aesthetically pleasing console like a ps2. i have been thinking this for quite some time and it still baffels me. what are your views on the subject

The PS2 has the best games, it's that simple.

GT3 is better than PGR2 in terms of driving sim, PGR2 is more fun online, but we'll wait and reserve judgement on GT4 until it's out.

Devil May Cry has no match on any other console, it's sheer class and easily one of the best and most original games on this generation of hardware.

Transformers rocks :D

Zone Of The Enders rocks.

Final Fantasy rocks.

8 player games of Pro Evolution Soccer rock.

At the end of the day it's a games console, it's designed to play games which an individual enjoys, and that's all that matters, how each individual owner enjoys it.

Which leaves... 4 Sony exclusives... 2 of which are poo. 1 of which isn't out.

No. It does.

Bit enjoyed one and two, three got a little tiresome, and i don't see how 4 is going to be as good as 2.

But it was made to be online, just had a rather cool offline mode aswell.

I never said it wasn't... But Xbox had a similar product earlier, not sure on the details, but sounds the same.

I could have also countered it saying the gameboy had a camera, but i didn't.

Meh. Can't say i'm excited about it.

what about RS3? PGR2? They've been around for ages and are still player virtually as often as when they were released.

I wasn't saying anyone would, you'd be insane to nower days (unless it was some rare game or something) just using it asa point.

But if i had the money i would buy a PS2, for it's few GOOD exclusives, just with the money i have now, i have a better console to satisfy my needs.

I'm actually looking forward to GT4. I loved the second one, I just hope it isn't like GT3 as I didn't really like that. It'll be interesting to see how Forza measures up to it as well.

EyeToy's always a favourite, but you get the feeling that anything between Play editions will be fun for about three minutes then get boring, much like Groove.

I think you'll agree when I say it has nothing on the Panasonic Q, though. That has to be the nicest looking home console ever to exist. I want one. :-(

Because the games are SO much more playable on the PC....

Using this argument, BTW, means Xbox has very few exclusives as well.

Er yeah, er let me see, 7 + 8 are on the PC, if you can find them, and will cost about 40-50 boxed. Not forgetting of course that 7 won't work on Windows XP without a somewhat iffy patch, and the same for 8. XI will be out in the UK eventually and is in Japan/US. Which leaves about 10 games not on the PC. What screwed up maths course did you go on?

1-6 were indeed on the NES - but on a modern system so far only 1+2 are available on the GBA.

So erm, haha retard?

Really? Well for a start none of the planes are real, and the mission levels are pretty confined, dogfights are certainly not up to Ace Comabt quality in my opinion.

Singstar is great fun! You know, now I think about it, you could have countered with the fact that the DC has a camera - though it did not work the same as the Eye Toy, plus Microsoft's Japanese side has a working camera in development though so far they look like they are only thinking of video chat, and integrating that into live games also.

It makes some games better, but I'm still yet to play any online game that really captivates me for more than a few weeks at best, I think HALO 2 could well be the first true classic for Live in the sense that it lasts longer than a few months. A lot of the old Live games have very few people on now - same can be said for PS2 old titles. Yet on the PC, despite the games being sometimes much harder to setup, play, and configure, there are large numbers of players for virtually every online game - that's hopefully what the consoles will have one day.

I'll bet I've played more than you have - and this isn't a challenge to start a tiresome "list every game you have ever played" style competition. The fact is that, despite the Xbox's capabilities, some games seem to fail to use them - look at Shadows Ops Red Mercury - its only on Xbox console and PC (so no "multiformat" excuse to use) yet in places its graphics are on par with PSone visuals!

I wouldn't pay £40 for a PS2 game period. Can't remember last time I did, but graphics are not the #1 factor for me, its how well the game plays - Disgaea is an absolute classic on the PS2, yet its essentially a souped up PSone game, it doesn't matter because it's that good! Given the rate at which the NES classics series is selling, its clear that a hell of a lot of people WILL pay 15-20 for a 16 coloured 2D game.

I can understand if you say you don't like the PS2 for personal reasons, but to say no one should like it is pure insanity at best, rampant fanboyism at worst. Me? I go where the games are, and luckily I can afford to do so for the most part.

What? You think the Xbox or GameCube look good?

They're all ugly. Well maybe not the GC so much.
