That's really remarkable, isn't it?
I'm not sure where the idea that as it's as good as a SNES, a bunch of SNES games should be ported onto it!
Mario advance, F-Zero, Golden Axe, Streets Of Rage. All old games available for, or coming to the GBA.
These are the titles that seem to be getting people excited, and I really think that that is very strange indeed.
Yes they were good games, but if there's anything coming to a handheld that people should be excited about it isn't slightly improved versions of games that have been around for the best part of a decade! It's not even a GBA game that I'm looking forward to, but one that will be available for the GameBoy Colour (if they ever get a release over here). What are these games? Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.
Is there not one other person out there that would rather play a new Zelda game than old Mario games? What are you, crazy?
If the only titles that are generating interest for the GBA are the retro titles, then eventually, that's all that you'll get.
The handheld has a lot of promise, but could easily be wasted. Hopefully there will be some games that prove that there can still be originality in the handheld market. Maybe they'll make it a success when they reveal how it will tie in with the Nintendo GAMECUBE. But honestly, if you only want a GBA to play on the games from yesterday, it's cheaper to pick up the consoles and games second hand, or if they're games that you already own, but you can't be bothered to plug in your SNES anymore, why not simply emulate it?
GBA owners, demand originality, demand creativity, and stop handing over your money for old rope.
Past tense. They're old now - we could do with something new.
You look at all those attributes and tell me the GBA isn't worth having... you can't... they'll be putting compilations on cartridges soon so we'll have 4 games in 1! Companies will take advantage of the 'mode7' (actually modes 1-5) and we might even see a 3D (Birseye view) MGS Advanced!
The options are almost limitless and as shown by the SNES/16-bit era, it isn't the graphics that make good games! Game Boy Advance is marvellous, and NOT to be missed...
Game
The Gameboy Advance is much more than a SNES emulator. The games due for release are new... Rayman, Tony Hawks, Pokémon... they're all cracking games with lots of potential!
The fact that the GBA can deal with ports from SNES games is just a mere bonus... What you're saying is like is like caling the PS2 an Emulator of the Playstation... it just isn't true... the GBA games are similar in style to the SNES games because of the power of the GBA. Simple.
The library of games scheduled for release is outstanding... Mario, Banjo-Kazooie, Sonic, Sabre Wulf... all on one console! The GBA has taken the best bits of the 16-bit era, bought them into the future and let them run wild!
There is nothing about the GBA that many people would change...
Trust me, Meka... i've played one, as I would imagine you have, and they're not just an expensive emulator... they're a gaming master-piece and one of, if not the best future prospect around!
It's silly to miss out on it just because you have a bad one-sided view! It may have similar games to a SNES, as you said but that isn't necessarily a bad thing...
Secret of Mana 2 anyone... we saw some of the best games ever on the SNES! Why should people who weren't gaming then miss out on them if all it means is a simple port?!
