As the adjudicating officer for the retail store extra Gameaday prize(s) I, The Only Tony, hereby declare the official results of this competition.

While the quantity of entries was high the quality was "none too hot" with many "fantasy schemes" often involving females.

I must disallow any general suggestions of games championships as we did these last year and we are running them this year. I would have taken a different view if the ideas for these had been worked up into fully suggestions (with details).

As I am judging this I can hardly award my own "Two Can Play at This" idea the prize - though undoubtedly we will use something similar for an "introduce a friend" incentive.

YH had a good notion about working with schools and Meka came up with "People are Stupid" idea to give safety advice with every game!

Rakuga deserves a mention for persistence and I particularly liked his suggestion of a One Day Sale. IF we decide to do that then he will get a prize. The problem with one day sales is that once people get used to (even) lower prices they are resistant to buying at the normal prices.

Rakuga also suggested giving better directions to the shops.

I liked Namostar's idea of placing addresses of the shops on internet banners. We'll use this so Namostar - you are A WINNER.

The second winner is Fantasy Meister. He made a couple of reasonable suggestions including better promotion of Reddies. But his idea which caught my imagination was to print an 8 digit number on the receipts for people to match with a number on the internet. This gives us the possibility of running Gameaday in the shops. I'm not sure if we will actually use it but it is the best idea (in my view).

A difficult competition which has clearly stretched imaginations to the limit. Thank you for entering.

Congratulations to NAMOSTAR and FANTASY MEISTER and I won't forget Rakuga IF we use the one day sale idea.

***********

These are the original rules.

The next amazing Special Reserve competition (another one!) is to suggest ideas for attracting people into our Big Club Shops.

The main objective here is to think about the cost effectiveness of your ideas. In order for them to work they need to be, yes you guessed it, low on cost and high on impact.

If you haven't visited all or any of our shops then get yourself down to your local shop and check them out! Visit our Big Club Shops page for further details: http://special.reserve.co.uk/common/shops/shopsindex.php

This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.

CLOSING DATE: 27th July 2001 *********MIDNIGHT*********

The challenge has been set. Good luck!

Rent one of those ex Lara Croft models, get them to dress up in some gear and get them to sign games and DVDs(Ideally around the time of a New TombRaider Game or the Movie on DVD).

Advertise the day in the previous club magazine so people know, then wait to see if it will work.

I like the way this person thinks!

You've brightened my day Sulzeer...

Good idea, although I think I may have already mentioned that and someone else for that matter.

Oh well.

Why not try and work along side other local stores to your shops. You could have money of vouchers for places like mcdonalds and burger king. Also if someone spends alot of money say over 300 pounds then they get a choice of a different free gift, say a new game but this only happens in the shops.
Is there any plans for a shop in Scotland, I think you should strongly consider it. I could think of some towns and cities which would benefit.

You have just arrived, and yet my taste buds pick up your scent of delirious insanity.

Water fountains? Crazy?

Although the sandwich idea is good, just so long as they get the sandwich AFTER they buy a game, and must then leave the store before eating it so that games remain grease free.

Of course, you could actually get the real thing! Just get a lower profile games designer - or a member from a development team, signing copies of the latest game - people like this. It helps in book stores and places not too dissimilar to book stores!

A revolving door always atracts attention!

Revloving/automatic doors.

Sell CDs in store? Heck, why not just plaster posters all over the towns where your stores are saying " is in our stores and signing games!"

Well, it would work.

Magic shows? Live demonstrations? Internet Cafe?

Also water fountains are very popular - in places of warmth and humidity some water fountains are visited by up to 2000 people a day. Astonishing huh?

Now - VIRTUAL water fountains that would be impressive. What you'd have is a regular looking water fountain, that squirts out virtual water - it looks like real water, but is in fact a virtual projection - confusing the witless thirst quenching in need of real life water - for at least ten seconds, enough time for a Special Reserve mascot (someone dressed up in a funny suit) to tell the person that there's water right behind him in the Special Reserve store, he'll see the brilliant prices (he or she) and buy a game as well as getting a drink. Thus Special Reserve should open up cafes!

Sulzeer.

Another idea? Find a Shigsy or Yu Suzuki lookalike (no one knows what they look like really) and claim you have them in store signing copies of their latest games! The chap who created GT3 could also be in your stores signing copies of the game - yeah, so what if he's not the real one? WHO is going to know, care or refuse his signature? Japanese people are funny, eyecatching (one gender is) and will add excitement to your store.

Ideas for sandwiches? Well, pretzels sell well too, but I'd be shocked if you didn't get a response from selling Apple and chocolate donuts - food and computers don't mix, but the latter gets sold when the previous is included!

Buy a game from us and get a FREE XTRA LARGE APPL DONUT!

It's going to work, you know it. Believe me, I'm Sulzeer.

You should sell really, really irrisistable sandwiches - everyone would be swarming into your stores and will always come back time and time again.

Large posters could help - flashing lights, LOUDish music, but GOOD music going on, and a general atmosphere of excitement should be implimented.
