Mainly as Machie and I seem to spend half the time on the WLT chatting about Doctor Who...

Here's my current favourites;

Best Classic Episode: Genesis of the Daleks (Tom Baker)

Best Classic Doctor: Late 7th Doctor - when the stories got darker and the character really developed into something more than just a Timelord.

Best DVD: The Invasion

Best New Doctor Who Episode: Army of Ghosts / Doomsday

But Dr Who is all about bad actors though =)

I'm pretty sure I saw Kylie play Cammy from Street Fighter.

We've seen Tate in Dr Who, so I guess we're allowed to say whether we think it's a good or bad thing.

So far 95% of the people are saying it's a bad idea.

Point is: Billie was good, but everyone doubted her before they saw her. She was a singer and hadn't even done that much acting, yet she was great. Kylie has been in and out of acting for most of her life, since she was tiny, so why shouldn't she be any good?

To their credit, although the team seem to be picking up a lot of big names of late, at least they're getting people with proper acting credentials, rather than 2-bit stars.

Oops sorry =)

Hopefully it wont be all jokey like the Christmas episode then. Still it would have been nice to have an unknown. Reading some of these comments on digitalspy, not everyone is a Freeman fan. I kinda see if as a demotion for her while they bring in Catherine Tate.

Machie, scroll back down to just under your first post about Catherine Tate.

Yes, my opinion is there. :D

It was hinted at before, but I didn't think it was a serious consideration. However, the Christmas specials are usually injected with a lot of humour anyway, so we might see Catherine's character look a bit more serious in the series. I don't think you can judge it too much based on one Christmas special.

As for Kylie, as I said before; A pop singer and actress in Doctor Who? How can that work? ;)

Lots of comments on other forums about this. So far there's a lot of negative feedback....

I'm usually one who finds few problems with Doctor Who and defends most on and off screen problems and I don't think I've often, if ever, personally criticised anyone from the production team.

But wth?

Who ever had the final word on this one is seriously gone in the head. What a disaster. I can't think of anything much worse. It'll be the end of Doctor Who. Kill it dead. We need to petition the BBC to change this. The programme is made for the general public and paid for by the general public. A
and if the general public say they don't want this, then the BBC should listen!

I wonder what pb will say about this new companion.

More like the worse thing since Matha Jones, terrible news. Comic Book Guy will be turning in his grave. what is it with celebrities in the show? I don't mind going back and seeing Dickens and Shaekspeare but Kylie? Come on. As long as The Doctor doesn't bump into any Catherine Tate characters like Lauren or the Granny, and we don't here 'Am I Bovvered?' in the show, then I shall still watch with great interest.

Sorry I haven't been posting but I still have a few episodes to watch.

I'm hear to moan again. Apparently Donna from the Christmas special. Is the new companion for the Doctor despite declining his previous offer to join him. That's right, 13 episodes of comedian celebrity Catherine Tate.

This has been confirmed by the BBC and Catherine Tate herself.

I know you two are going to say this is the best new since sliced bread and I did enjoy her in the Christmas special. But I really dont think I could handle all the jokes et al for 13 episode. Though I do like the idea of an older woman as a companion. Instead of someone in their 20ies and falls in love with the Doctor so easily.

No, Kylie's been acting for ages, she'll be fine.

The more depressing news (for me) is that Catherine Tate is apparently the new companion, reprising her role from last year's Christmas Special.

I thought they were going to have a bloke?
