Yeh i heard of it, it still on the market so it hasnt completly failed but if your comparing the PSP to the N-Gage then ummm i dont think so. The N-Gage didnt have the same amount of publishers and quality games able to play on it. Plus didnt have video options and to be honest NOkia has never entered the handheld gaming market before. If you think the PSP is going to be another N-Gage i do fear your in for a surprise, as much as i hate the idea Sony has a really large fanbase who would be ready to hand over there money for a PSP. Especially if they can have graphics like the PS2.

Gaming is a geeky past time, it's sad but true and its just not cool to the casual gamer.

It's alright having a few games and a blast with your mates... but playing it on the go???

That's just sad.

Nintendo have chosen to launch a console simultaneously with the PSP, I bet that wasn't originally part of the plan. With a massive software line up, playable demo's all over the place... constant news updates... cheap price and new ideas.

The PSP is going to cost a bomb and will only sell to the adult market...

A handheld games machine has done this before you know... called the N-Gage... you may have heard of it.

Since when did Nokia not appeal to the public?

Yeh there not stupid but they might be over confident. The PSP would appeal to the larger audience as in 16+. Where as the DS does have the games to appeal to the older gamers they would have to be hardcore to go with the DS. It has poorer graphics which kids dont know or care about. Ok they do have the games to try and attract the older gamers but, the PSP has mp3 and movie possibilitys which would appeal very much to the older gamer, as well as all the games plus PS2 graphics(how did they get a ps2 in to a handheld?).

Over-confident?

They're releasing a special handheld device with tonnes of million selling games (Mario brothers, Mario 64, Zelda, Metroid) to go alongside the GBA SP in an attempt to distract attention from the PSP.

Nintendo aren't stupid.

Just wait a few months, you'll probably be able to get it for about 20p by then.

One thing I think Nintendo fails on is trying to attract the mainstream gamer (don't scorn at me for this), or the "joe gamer", whatever. But I just think Nintendo would do a whole lot better if they tried to push their console to attract gamers who would usually only purchase something for the PS2/Xbox etc.

Most people at this point will start blaring "Nintendo iz 4 hardcor gamers only, our gamez r betta then urs!!!11!1!!" to ensure that their console is kept to their exclusive sector of the gaming world.

Why bother argueing though?

But thats what were predicting for the PS3 aint it? LOL. No i really doudt that they will, Nintendo will want to keep there dominance i can see them putting a lot of time and finance in to the DS so it is better than the PSP but is see Sony realising this and doing the same but willing to continue no matter what, i mean they are extrmely rich company not just because of PS2 but there other products.

I predict Nintendo being over confident and losing too many customers, then quietly admitting they could have handled things different after it is too late.

In all fairness something to put your mind at rest would be that Nintendo have never failed in the handheld market for over 15 years. Ninetendo do have diversity but not on the scale of Microsoft and Sony. It seems nowadays we live in an era run by brand names and whats "cool". Look at sega. Never know whats going to happen in 5 to 10 years time.
