And I'm not knocking your faith, I'm saying that taking it to such fundemental extremes is dangerous and to misinterpret the entire message of Christianity.

I've read the bible thanks, and the message that came through time and time again was one of tolerance and forgiveness and understanding.
Maybe I got a different version to you.

What?!?!?! This is one of the most intolerant and hostile views I have heard, one that does not seem to be from a Christian viewpoint at all. Where is the mention of drunkness, stealing and lies?

My little brother WAS reading a Harry Potter

Book Burning?
How is this love and peace and forgiveness? What happened to "turn the other cheek", I distinctly remember some guy called Jesus preaching understanding and tolerance.
I definately do not recall him saying anything about burning books.
That is a Luddite, anti-intellectual response based on fear and anger.

Harry Potter is a bad influence, it

Nobody is to stop it.
I may not be religious, but I do get the idea that a belief in Jesus means you are at peace, understanding and accepting, one of unconditional love for every single being on this planet and one of total harmony.

Don't perceive church from the Downloaded GBA
> adverts!!!

I don't. I percieve "church" as an insitution that perpetuates this kind of hatred and loathing for anything that dares to contradict your version of the world.
If you are so sure you are right, what threat can this be?

What harm can a book do to someone?
What business is it of yours what anyone reads or thinks as long as they do not harm another single living being?

And I would say that if any book is directly linked to, and discusses Satanism in explicit terms, it's The Bible.

Sorry Game, but you claiming Harry Potter books are Satanism is beyond anything I have heard.

Fundementalism breeds a total lack of compassion for anything that doesnt conform to what you see as the way the world should be.

Dont blame it on a book, a book isnt responsible for The Crusades, The Inquisition, The 100 years war, Pro-Lifers, Witchhunts, discrimination and hatred in the name of peace, love and understanding.

Anyway...

Goatboy: Read the Bible... then you'll see where i'm coming from.

I have been a Christian for about..... 4 years now. And I've been going to Church all my life.

There's no doubt that the Devil exists. I strongly believe he does. But God does also, but he who is in me is greater than he who is in the world! By the grace of God I am saved... you might not understand all this, and I am not knocking your intelligence for it but, when you see things from my point of view... the last thing we need in a dying world is books like Harry Potter and situations like this!

Harry Potter woman, what's her name is a satanist... and she is ministering to all these little little kids, making lies, stealing, drunkeness seem acceptable to them... My little brother WAS reading a Harry Potter book until I threw it in the metal bin and burned it... they're not coming in this house!

Harry Potter is a bad influence, it shouldn't be allowed but in a world of such corruption and ungodlyness who is to stop it?!

God gave us a chance, we messed it up, all of this stuff is to test our faith... Not all Christians are boring, old, OAP's who sit in a church with bat-filled rafters.... Don't perceive church from the Downloaded GBA adverts!!!

Anyway...

Ok, that is, without question, one of the most moronic statements I have ever heard from anyone.

I'd understand it if you were one of those inbred USA Rednecks that patrolled outside abortion clinics with signs.

Have you actually read any of those books?
Satanism?
Witchcraft?

What century are you living in mate?
Does "The Devil" as a concept still exist? Does that notion still reign in an age of science and logic?

One question for you:
If you do believe the devil exists, let's accept that for one moment, then answer me this:

What could oppose God's Will?
Nothing.

So relax, stop with this absurd idea and please start thinking instead of spouting fundamental nonsense.

I'm sorry to everyone else, but that is a retarded notion from someone applying theories of a religion based on fear and superstitions.

Personally, I think this is going to get blown far out of proportion.

A kid commited suicide. It's sad, but these things happen. Lots of people kill themselves, often for unknown or trivial reasons, yet I have a feeling this one is going to be somehow... 'more important'.

Well, I guess we're pretty much agreed it's not really about pokemon, so I'll leave it at that.
