"I have no love for the forums any more."

Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.

That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?

About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.

In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.

What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.

As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.

But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

I bid you all farewell. I hope you can bring to this forum what seems to be missing today.

I agree that June 2001 was a low point. Them's was the bad 'ol days..... until Grix announced he was leaving. That was the turning point. It's been in the ascendency (spelling?) ever since. Nobody wants him to go (ever). Where would we get another Grix from?

And what's this about non-members getting GAD prizes? Surely not. Snuggly - see my memo entitled "Stop the rotters winning" of 1/4/89. Why wasn't that followed?

I honestly can't see why SR don't do that anyway. It's an easy way to get people to pay up, get some more money to actually fund the gads, and then it'll seem more of a "club"... I mean, you have to PAY to use these forums? How select is that?

I say yeah. It's been suggested before, but I reckon it would work, easily.

This is just an idea...

I havnt even thought it through myself, (my brain is too alcahole-addled from last night to think)...

But why not make SR members only eligable to win GAD/FAD prizes?

Keep joining/posting open to everyone, but only membership people are able to win the daily prize?

Its probably a really bad idea, and once I sobre up proper I may realise whata mistake it is... just an idea?

Bear in mind that most users haven't been around nowhere near as long as many of the Notables, thus the topics are new to them, just not to you.

Seriously though, nobody really seems to try anymore. If someone writes a topic, it's just a single bloody opinion that's been written over and over to make it seem like a long topic.

No passion, me says.
