Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.

That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?

About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.

In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.

What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.

As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.

But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

Tony, Sheepy, The Game, Rasta, Edgy, Turbo, Meka, Pb, er-no, Sniper, Venombyte, Rav, Ant, Darkness, Ali, Mouldy Cheese, De Sol, Dan_uk, M16, webmaster, FM, MWA, Goatboy, Wookiee, ssxpro, Shanksy, Reaper, Terry S, Iguana, Bonus, Fogmaster, Your Honour... I bid you all farewell. I hope you can bring to this forum what seems to be missing today.

i know what you mean grix it's not like the good old days when the posts were few but good and the topics interesting back it the days of the listed threads. They were classic. The only real squabbling that ever occured was psx vs n64 and that was usually sorted out pretty quickly. There are too many idiots posting complete rubbish nowadays and as soon as you get them sorted another prat arrives. I remember when it started going dodgy and i just stopped posting for 3 or 4 months and when i game back things had changed a bit. There had been a population explosion but at least the good posts were returning. I was sick of troubling myself with posting this kind of stuff and sorting out squabbles. I really hate the intense spamming that goes on just for the sake of stats and can see one way of sorting it out.

Probably the best thing we can do is just make the stats hidden, we can keep the status' but just hide the stats so only the staff can see the word counts and post counts but we can keep the review counts and chealts and walkthroughs. This way we only ain for positive things and it should help get rid off some of the spamminf fools who just want to increase their count to get higher up the list of posters.

This was very odd.

If you didn't know, and if you couldn't guess, this was all scripted. It was the last time I've ever really tried to manipulate people on here, and it didn't really work.

It probably ended up with Fog Prime dying, and becoming the repetitive pap it is today. I'm annoyed about that.

But the idea was this. I come on here, and tell people I'm leaving. People get talking about how to improve the forums, and work as one to get things sorted. It was pretty weak of me to simply walk away, so I come back a bit of the way through, and offer to help.

All scripted. Problem is, we're a lot more lazy than we first appear. Controlling spam is difficult, almost impossible. It was nice to see all these lovely messages being left for me, but in the end, nothing was really accomplished. We just ended up with the same old Chat, with more Gaming topics in, because we'd segregrated Prime, which meant all the crappy newbie gaming topics came in here instead. Which ruined it, and still does today.

Nobody's original anymore. I've basically given up on Chat and Prime now. I want to be inspired by people, not bored to death, and there ain't much inspiration around here.

This is a pop for Mouldy Cheese, anyway. :0)

Tips for winning Gameaday.

Use Word (Or Something with a Spellchecker) before posting important posts. Use a Thesaurus if your really determined.

Try to leave a post open, so others can reply to it.

Dont swear.

Be Original, and add humour where possible.

Tony is right in giving out extra game a days. Some of us in this forum (Including me), are not as talented as a lot of the other people who post in this forum. If we didn't have these extra game a day prizes, most of the winners would be all the notables. We can't write any topics nearly as good as you can, I have wrote a few reviews not to try and win game a day, but thought that maybe I would because I spent a lot of time on it and I never win. I've seen a few good reviews that are good enough to win game a day, but because some else has a lot more patience and better vocabulary than us they always seem to win. And just because some of us that are not as talented as you, you go and leave the forums. You should be setting an example, like writing good topics, telling us what makes a good and interesting post. YOUR A NOTABLE FOR GODS' SAKE! And don't forget, you we're a newby once!
