Every day, you could come on, and there would be... six, perhaps five new topics. Each of them would be excellently written, discussing new points. It was interesting to see what people had thought of, and it would be fun to argue the points.

That was six months ago. Since then, what's happened?

About 20 new topics are created every day, about two of which are worth reading. Regulars are dropping like flies, and some of the most respected of people on the forum don't come on any more.

In my opinion, the legacy of the FOG's have fallen. We do little more than chat pointlessly now. Even the stories, which have kept me here for the past six months, seem pointless these days.

What used to be a cozy forum, with people coming on and winning games, then leaving, with the handful of regulars who were always guaranteed to turn up every night, has turned into a mass of people, all chattering with no thought for entertainment, with only a good one or two topics every day.

As I join the likes of ssxpro, Wookiee Monster, FantasyMeister, Sniper, by leaving, I make this topic not so I can flatter myself with people telling me not to leave, but I make this topic because it's important that the FOG does not get any more worse than it already is. I hope that by showing people are not interested in the FOG these days, I hope that something can be done to bring the quality of the forums back to the greatness that it once was.

But... I shall not be handing in my resignation as a notable. Make what you want of this, but I have my reasons.

Tony, Sheepy, The Game, Rasta, Edgy, Turbo, Meka, Pb, er-no, Sniper, Venombyte, Rav, Ant, Darkness, Ali, Mouldy Cheese, De Sol, Dan_uk, M16, webmaster, FM, MWA, Goatboy, Wookiee, ssxpro, Shanksy, Reaper, Terry S, Iguana, Bonus, Fogmaster, Your Honour... I bid you all farewell. I hope you can bring to this forum what seems to be missing today.

From a non-member's point of view i seriously wouldnt mind..

I'd happily dip into my pocket and pay the £7.50 for a year...

*pops out calculator*

*presses buttons*

Thats about half a penny a day.. hardly gonna bust your bank account, will it?

And anyway my mum'll pay :-D

a good reason yes but i think lots of people would go if something like that was introduced.

And we'd probably see some stupid people who always spam winning because they are a member and they make one good post because there isnt many other people on.

Yeah. People who want something for nothing, but aren't up to paying about £7 a year for the chance. If they leave for that, we aren't missing much, believe me.

But then again,
If you introduce something like that then i should think that we'd see lots of people dropping out of here.

I dont know though.

As for a system... what about simply matching membership details to the details being put into here?

Better rephrase that.

Basically:

1) You enter your details. Address, post-code, name, so on.

2) You enter your membership number.

3) The server looks at the membership details, and see if they match with the details you've given.

4) If so, access for winning granted.

Can't hurt. It'll be interesting to see how much the topic count drops.

(Where else in the world, not just the internet, would the owner of the company ask if something's ok with us lot?)

What people say is seldom the same as what they actually do. i.e. they might say in a poll "yes" but then when they are actually asked to "place hand in pocket" they might not.

I agree that we should consider making GAD prizes for members only. Maybe we should have a trial week?

'ello stranger. :0D

I agree... it HAS gotten better since then, but very, very slowly. I think it's hit a kinda wall at the moment. Still better than what it was, but a bit boring, all the same.

And you can't say it's really that much better, because you hardly post that much any more anyway. :0)

I wonder how many people would leave here if they were charged to come on here. I definitely wouldn't. Worth a poll, at least, eh Tony?
