HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF THIS COMPETITION. I have read ALL the entries!

A lot of entries mentioned things which have generally been discussed before or are in the pipeline. They include:
User Profiles
Polls
Walkthroughs and Game Guides
Highest Scores
Who is currently posting
Splash Plastic (which is too expensive for us to do)
Online Reddies
Logos and Ringtones (see UKphonetones.com)
Genre search for games
Tell a Friend.

It just goes to show how busy we are that we are unable to get many of the above into place. But hey, expenditure is controlled by income (hint).

I liked Darkness' idea about tutorials, and Mantis made the suggestion to have a "Gamesmaster" of the forums based on competitions for high scores.

Cookie Monster wants people to be able to promote their website (we already offer this for Freeola customers) and he also suggests that we have an office pet which is monitored with a web cam (brilliant).

Monkey_with_Attitude suggests a "most played games of the week" counter on UKgames.com.

Freak of the Dark says our logo should "move or something".

Turbonutter reckons we should run Flash games and this is supported by Shaneo who says we should run SR Arena and give prizes to the best players. Turbonutter also tells us that we are lacking on PC game specification of the type you find on the back of the box and Swish extends this to a link under each title.

CDouch is a "man of a thousand ideas", mostly on the button too. He lists: Information on gaming from around the world, more mini sites like UKgt3, kids corner, celebrity visits and better organised release info including more information on unreleased games (to name but a few of his suggestions).

The rules (written by Kendozod) state "exciting and would attract a lot of visitors".

THE WINNERS ARE:
CDouch for MORE INFORMATION ON UNRELEASED GAMES.
Turbonutter for FLASH GAMES.

Many thanks for all of your participation and, for the time being, I promise not to confuse the issue by holding any other similar competition.

Below are the original rules written by Kendozod

New Site Features.

Tony has let me loose to post a new and exciting competition!
So here goes:

This competition is for all of you to think up new features for our websites. We already have cheats, clips, demos, discussions etc but are there other features you would like us to add?

The aim here is for the feature to be low admin maintenance and low in cost (obviously!) but be exciting and would attract lots of visitors.

They can be fun, educational, business, reference, silly, cool - anything as long as they NOT sexual or violent in nature.

This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.

CLOSING DATE: 8th July 2001

So get thinking and posting. Remember, your suggestions could make a difference!

Oh right, I am thick.

Well the people don't have to give a winner the name Gamesmaster, they can be called a Gameing God or somthing.

feel free to add your own sugestions for a name.

You could have a page devoted to your brillant banners that have been made.

Sadly many of them get taken off the site and never seen again, not because of their great designs but click through rate.

It would be great if you had a page where people could browse through your banners old and new, not all have to be placed, maybe just some of the best.

Maybe viewers could give them a rating out of 10?

Lucky Dip

To encourage more users to be introduced to the SR network you could serve a lucky dip hold once a month. Only a few people would be able to be in the lucky dip as it would depend on their word count and post count over the last month. Thus encouraging them to post on the discussions.

So if their word and post count is over the right number then they are able to win the lucky dip which the winner is chosen at random and given a prize.

It would be intresting if this prize was a choice of 3 diffrent lucky choices:

1. Could be the best prize
2. Could be the second best prize
3. Could be the worst prize

These would not be in order though, in a random order and the winner not told what each numbers prize is. Though the winner would be told what the prizes were and so would add tension.

It would be a great competion.

Heres a few simple ideas to start off with:

1. How about a picture page, with the latest pictures of newly released games, you could add pictures which have been drawn by the users of sr and displayed on the site.

2. How about a question page, where you can ask either a staff member or notable a question about the site if you are new.
You can check the answer on the page in which you asked it except it will be beneath the question

3. How about a download page, where you can download roms and emulators (for the old consoles like the mega drive) that could bring a lot more people to the site, but the only way to download them would be to sign up to the site, but once they have seen all the other features of the site i'm sure they would be hooked.

4. Why don't you bring back Fantasy F1, but the prize wouldn't be a PS2, it would be something like two or three games of their choice

5. How about a games page with a few, short little games so people could keep themselves amused, a game like snake would do.

6. What about mobile ringtones, a very popular craze at the moment but i don't know why

How about a game guide, this wouldn't be like the top ten, it would be what you thought the top 5 or something games for each console.

How about a a teaching page, this would be where you could people could post simple guides to how to use complex programs like C++ or html.

How about a walkthrough page where regulars for example could post walkthroughs for games, top tips on how to defeat a boss and secrets which can sometimes be hard to find.

What about a proper stats page wher you can ask question about a certain regular, newbie etc but it also has the default information of the person who was being checked.

One last idea, a map, with directions showing you were each shop is.

UKflashgames.com -

Just a load of games done in Macromedia Flash, possibly with high scores and fastest times to beat.

UKweblog.com -

A weblog. If you don't know what a weblog is, go to www.blognation.f2s.com and have a look. Basically, it's surfer's picks

or how about UKwebdirectory.com -

A web directory, like Yahoo, but just for games. Like lists of good games sites and things.

I did it first jd99! its my idea :)

Oh well, it should be good anyway if SR make it. I will be able to post my scores on crazy taxi and probably be beaten shamefully lol. I was wondering if anyone had thought of this high score thing before I posted it and obviously you have-damn. :)
