"Spirited Away"

OK. Japenese anime movies usually arn't my sort of thing, but my mate likes them so he decided to put Spirited Away on during one of our "Film Nights."

WHAT THE HELL!?!?!? This is officially the weirdest film I have ever encountered. It starts off pretty understandable with a girl worried about moving to a new school etc, and all of a sudden her parents are turning into pigs, a good looking lad she's friends with randomly turns out to be a dragon and the baby's are 3 feet taller than their mother and speak better english.

Anyone seen this?! Did I miss something or is it just a damn weird film?

Magical I get, this thing I just couldn't follow cause all the strange stuff was happening so fast and so often! well, sounds like it was just me not gettin it. Mebbe I'll watch it again and concentrate less on the "good lookin' lad" that am never gonna live down...;-)

For all those who recommended me 'Full Metal Alchemist' a while ago I'd just like to say thanks. Rather than resurrect a dead topic, this seems like an appropriate thread. The first DVD was excellent; I really enjoyed it and I've pre-ordered the second (which I think should be out tomorrow).

As for Spirited Away, it's an amazing film. I think 'brilliantly original' is a better way to describe it than 'weird'.

Aye, I was going to say something similar, it's going to be hard to find anime that you think is wierd.

Although if you don't want weird, you should probably steer clear of anime all together.

Maybe you were too concentrated on the good looking lad to follow the film properly.
