So, what do you guys think of them? I got their first album, pretty awsome. If you don't know who they are, they're the band with three former GNR members and 2 other people.

Haha. Slash is a very competent shredder, you know. Not that it means he's "better", but to say he's not skilful is a blatant lie.

Take Slash's solo on GNR's cover of Knockin On Heaven's Door and compare it to any of Kirk Hammet's generic wah fret-w**ks and you'll see that there's more to "skill" than how fast you can move your fingers.

Blimey, The Beatles and Elvis are in a completely different league.

Aha, I knew you were being sarcastic.

If you weren't, then I looked a right idiot in my post after yours.

I know that Memo. You quoted me out of context.

See the post before mine to see the point I was making (Hell, I'll just post it up in my next post).

Slash is amazing.

average! He's amazing. Technically he's not *fantastic* but he's certainly above average and a HELL of a lot better than most modern guitarists, and his writing ability is second to none. Most of his solos are really emotive. I'd go as far as saying Slash is right up there with the best in his balance of technicality/melody.

Also, Buckethead is a truly bizarre character but I quite like his playing, which is, as you say, as bizarre as he is.

edit: did not notice sarcasm. oopsie.

I'd like to point out that just because a band is more successful doesn't mean the guitarist is better, but if it did:

Guns'n'Roses are 60th, Oasis 140th

And to add further to the idea that even though Oasis are successful, but without as much talent, guitarists like Malmsteen aren't on the list, but only a fool would ay Noel Gallacher is a better guitarist than him.

Playing a difficult guitar part doesnt make you the best guitarist. Playing your part well is what makes you good.

Noel Gallagher is arguably better than Slash. They have both probably sold a similar amount of records, but Noel managed it using little more than a few open chords and the odd lick.
