Another thread on Mikey, true. But I have to keep my hopes up. Losing my favourite 'Pool striker is a blow that can only be softened with the return of the only 'Pool player I have loved more than him. Mikey is on his way back - that's what The Times seems to think:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,428-1736832,00.html

Read that in my paper this morning before my run, and then amused myself by thinking of Mikey while running (not in a gay way).

Stevie says he'll talk to him in the England training camp. No-one can turn down Stevie. No man, no woman.

Honestly thought he was.

Defence is okay, just needs fine tuning.

Still needs to stay fit.

I never joke when it comes to my contempt of each and every thing you say. I'd listen to Colourless before I listen to you, and he thinks I'm wrong about everything.

What pundits, exactly? And Mikey wanted to come to Liverpool. He's gone to Newcastle because he has absolutely no other options left. And that is no-ones fault but Rafa's. Which is a shame, because I'd really like to find some way to blame you.

Ahaha.

This is great, Dringo was on a loop for about five months, saying "Owen will return to Liverpool, Owen will return to Liverpool, Owen will..." like some kind of scouse Buddhist, and now he's Newcastle bound. Excellent.

I do also think he'll do well this season, however. Regular football, partnered with Shearer, playing in front of the likes of Emre and Luque etc. The defence is probably the weak link.

What I find strange though, is everyone in the know saying "He needs regular first team football before the World Cup." He scored two against Columbia, didn't he? And didn't Sven ask for a longer holiday for the players this year, because they'd be so tired from playing an entire season of first team football? Seems to me that a season like the one Owen has just had is what he needs going into the World Cup. He'd be fresh but hungry. I'm not saying he'd get another season like that at Real this season, mind, before anyone misinterprets.

Souness is a solid manager. Despite having a heart condition he has won (as a manager) the FA Cup with Liverpool, the league cup with Blackburn, the scottish premier league 3 times, the scottish league cup 4 times and the Turkish FA Cup.

As a Blackburn manager he got them into Europe twice and promoted from league one. Even when Blackburn lost their top players he still managed to keep them in the top flight.

At Newcastle he had a terrible start and it got even worse. But looking back at the season he did get into the semi-final of both the FA Cup and the Uefa cup.

He did have a terrible time in Italy and Portugal (despite getting Benfica into the champions league) and his end run at Blackburn was hardly memorable.

Nevertheless he has been successful and done some great things. So maybe, now he has a quality team behind hime, people should give the guy a chance.

The pundits are all useless. They're always full of praise when a team gets a new player. I've never ever heard a pundit say "Oh, that's a bad signing" or "Oh, he shouldn't have joined that team".

If I was Owen, I don't think I'd ever join Newcastle with Souey as manager.

Yeah some young blood, hardly for this season though. At least Cisse is staying.
