Another thread on Mikey, true. But I have to keep my hopes up. Losing my favourite 'Pool striker is a blow that can only be softened with the return of the only 'Pool player I have loved more than him. Mikey is on his way back - that's what The Times seems to think:

Read that in my paper this morning before my run, and then amused myself by thinking of Mikey while running (not in a gay way).

Stevie says he'll talk to him in the England training camp. No-one can turn down Stevie. No man, no woman.

They had no choice, it was the last year of his contract and he wanted to go. Now he's got 3 years left and Real are in a strong position where they don't need to sell.

I rather some French flair with the Mikey than Lee Bowyer trying to plant coke on him.

Ah well, it won't happen anyway. He's said he'll only go to Newcastle if Liverpool don't want him, and even then it'll only be a loan deal.

Please, Rafa. Please.

A great bit of business for Real I must say, they bought him for 8.5 mill if I remeber correctly and selling him for approx double that amount a year later and it's not as if he's set the world on fire to double his worth. It just shows that 'Pool sold him off too cheaply in the first place, tut.

This sets up a bit of a dilemma for Owen who said he would only join Newc on loan with a view to joining 'Pool on a perm later but I don't see 'Pool paying that much for Owen either, so what's he gonna do?

I just don't think Newcastle are that bad. I must admit though, I still have a soft spot for them remaining from the Keegan era. Even after Dalglish and Gullit bum raped the club.

Obviously I'd prefer to see Owen at Man Utd, but it's not going to happen. He'd be amazing at Arsenal, but all of those Frenchies laying hands upon him - no, I don't like the sound of that.

So it'll have to be Newcastle. And I think Souness deserves a chance this season.

I'd rather see him at Arsenal or Manchester United, where the attacking play would suit him. Especially Arsenal, with all the chances Freddie, Pires, Berkhamp, Henry, Reyes and Hleb would supply.

I agree though, Liverpool is a team of defenders at the moment.

But Newcastle? C'mon. Something about the team repulses me. It's a disgrace of a team, run by a manager who's Championship standard abd populated by some of the worst-disciplined players in the world.

It'd be like watching a child go out and play with the local drug-addicts, for me.

I'd like to see Owen at Newcastle, actually. Playing in Rafa's Liverpool team would do him no favours whatsoever.

Oh. God. No.

Newcastle agree record fee for Owen. Which means more than the £15million they paid for Shearer. Rafa will never match that.

This is awful.

Dutch players do seem to do well in England and when I say that im thinking Ruud, Robben, Van Der Sar. We will ignore Kluivert. He was fat and useless when he joined Newcastle. I reckon Kezman could have done alright if he was given a fair run in the team.

No...it was a little tap...he just scraped him...it was Gallas who made a big meal of it.

Benitez being sly with words...

Will go for Owen at the last minute, using Kyrt as a way of bringing down Madrid's price.
