Another thread on Mikey, true. But I have to keep my hopes up. Losing my favourite 'Pool striker is a blow that can only be softened with the return of the only 'Pool player I have loved more than him. Mikey is on his way back - that's what The Times seems to think:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,428-1736832,00.html

Read that in my paper this morning before my run, and then amused myself by thinking of Mikey while running (not in a gay way).

Stevie says he'll talk to him in the England training camp. No-one can turn down Stevie. No man, no woman.

Everton have a bigger chance of signing him because if they dont make the champions league they have the UEFA cup to intise him at least.

Which makes the Newcastle offer all the more puzzling, they cannot believe he will join them and they are just going to look stupid when he turns them down, unless they really believe he has no other options.

I do have a feeling that some team will come in last couple hours if he hasn't already gone offer real a good but cheap deal and give owen a deal which suits him best.

Not going to be anything less that a 5 year deal if they are paying over £15m for him, cannot see them agreeing to a buy out clause.

He has got himself in a right pickle, he will not want to stay at Real and not play much football world Cup year, he will not want to join Newcastle and be part of an average team that might just sneak into the Uefa Cup if they are lucky. And cannot see Liverpool etc paying that sort of money to buy him.

Of course Real have a similar problem in that they do not really need him and cannot force him to go to a club that he does not want to join no matter how much they offer, would not be surprised to see him join Liverpool next week for about £10m

But owen doesn't want a long contract so i wonder what newcastle will offer him and if he has a buy out clause

I think they are a non starter as well, because thye are likely to be out of Europe after tonight.

I assume the option of him going to Liverpool on loan is a non-starter as far as Real are concerned. This is probably why Newcastle have had to made a large bid for him.
