Got a new guy writing stuff for the site, an American dude called Chris. He's pretty cool, he likes lists. Don't we all? So enjoy his list of the Top 10 Sci-fi movies of all time, and feel free to disagree vehemently in the comments section so I can totally see how popular I am.

Personally? I've seen two of the top ten. Whoops. I'm quite lame when it comes to Sci-fi. I'm always gonna argue for Jurassic Park to be in any list of top whatevers, just cos it rules.

For Goaty: the most audacious opening shot ever, I cried at Eternal Sunshine, etc etc etc. Your own little paragraph.

JPJ's City of the Lost Children is probably more sci-fi - it's my personal favourite film of his.

Would Delicatesson count as sci fi?

If so, that's my fave. Oh yeah.

Bit of a Cronenberg fixation?

I got the impression that some of the movies listed appealed to him partially because the average person wouldn't be interested. I might not be giving him enough credit though, its just that this sort of thing has become very popular - claiming to like the "acquired taste" stuff and deliberately excluding anything vaguely mainstream. In many cases its understandable, just as long as its done for the right reasons.

He clearly wanted to write a list that wasn't just the generic Sci-Fi list you'd get on a Channel 4 Jimmy Carr show. It's his list, so they're films that appealed to him for whatever reason.

That's his point, though.

Chris said that T2 isn't there because he thinks of it as more of an action film than a sci-fi film, but you could say the exact same thing about Aliens.

Ah, the Robocop Director's Cut is fantastic. A classic.

Agree with most of the choices in the top 10, though maybe in a different order.
