They haven't deleted my login yet!

Oh well, while I'm here...

First off - hello all. Hope you're all having spiffingly wonderful lives. Well, most of you... ;-p

Now that's out of the way...

I have my PSP on pre-order with a certain other online retailer, and I need to get some games for it too. So any of you importers got any recommendations? I'll be buying official UK versions first off, but importers may be in a position to advise, having played the games. Yes, I have read reviews, but personal opinions can give a better balance.

What I'm thinking of so far are Ridge Racer, Mercury, Virtua Tennis, Metal Gear Acid, Ape Academy and Coded Arms. I know some of these are out in other regions, others may not be. Anyone have them and care to share their opinion?

Obviously there are a few must-have games which will be out shortly after launch (I'm thinking GT4 Mobile, Daxter and Pursuit Force specifically), but what of the current games? Is Mercury as much fun as it looks? Does Metal Gear really work as a 'card game'? How does Coded Arms play with only one analogue stick? Is Ape Academy fun? Should I choose a racer other than Ridge?

Also, as PSP is region-free for gaming, what websites would you recommend for cheap import games? Now I know some people at SR get particularly arsey about naming competitors here, even when they sell a multitude of things that SR don't... so feel free to e-mail me (about this only) - address on my profile page. And thanks in advance.

I've only seen GT4 Mobile as being released in the US in September (and yes, I am aware that we can play it on our PSP's), but I think that's an old date that hasn't been updated.

I've read in some places that it's due March 2006.

Given that all PSPs will play all games, I don't see why they're still persisting in staggered release dates. With the console itself, maybe - but not the games.

But then, I also don't see why Sony have released a 'region free' game console and are taking certain companies to court for selling imports.

Picked up the latest OPSM2 today, and all of those games got 8/10 review scores.

As did this one! But I didn't pre-order it. Oh well, I'll just put the money towards a 1GB Memory Stick I guess.

My 512mb was £30 from 'Speedexcel' on ebay and came the next day. However, I looked recently at their shop and there's nothing there anymore...

It's annoying, because despite all that, it's still the cheapest price I've seen - if you don't get lumbered with VAT and Duty.

If anyone wants to buy from within the UK, you can for around £10 more - http://www.emartbuy.com/uk/catalog/item/miscl/itemDetail.aspx?itemId=462&itemId=462

Total £55 + VAT (£9.63) + £2.00 shipping = £66.63

That's where I'll be getting mine from, just as soon as I get the dosh!

Must admit, I missed all that information. Glad I didn't buy from him then!

That seller needs reporting for fee avoidance!

No surprise that it's a Power Seller, either.

Plus there's quite a bit of neg/neutral feedback from people who got charged VAT and Import Duty.

Don't worry:

1 gig memory stick on ebay for £52 (inc post and insurance).

But be quick, ends soon (though it's a buy now, so I'm sure they'll have others listed).

I bid on a 512 and got it before I saw this. Damn it...
