Turns out that the deal for Robinho is never going to happen due to the confusion over the amount of money Real Madrid would have to pay to Santos.
So instead they've opted to sign Julio Baptista. Admittedly only Marca seem to have picked up this so far, but by what they're writing, it seems pretty much like a done deal for 20 million Euros.
Edit - just confirmed on the BBC. £13.8 million to Sevilla, and Baptista signs for Real.

Wonder where Robinho will go, then, if anywhere.

So would I, he's better.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It was late :-) But true story - he was quite public about that opinion when he was Newcastle manager.
I don't disagree with what you're saying either - I was just suggesting reasons, not giving my own opinion. Although on the crossing front they played with Damien Duff on the left a lot of the time and he was pretty good in that aspect. Yes, Drogba is a donkey, but his skill in the air is the best thing about his game.
Where's this 25 million that was being banded about?

Rio seems to want most of it! :(
sign the deal you tw@t!!!

Not that much left to spend.

Not quite sure what you're trying to say. Bobby ROBSON, maybe. But, er, your post makes no sense. For a start, Bellamy is a subpar-Owen in every aspect. But still in the same mould. Just a really crap mould you buy from the Tesco Value aisle.

Every time you watch an England game, and I assume you have at some point in your life (after all, Bobby Charlton used to play for them, dontchaknow), then you'll have heard Motson saying how Mikey is one of the most underrated headers of the ball in the modern game. He's scored many a goal with his head.
Two - Drogba is useless. Everyone knows this. Yes, he's big and powerful, but he'd much rather use this size to flap about like a bird with clipped wings.
3 - Chelsea's style of play doesn't mean they score a lot of headed goals. Watch any Chelsea matches last season? If it came in from the wide, it would be Robben or Duff or Joey Cole drifting in, going past men and either hitting it or passing it inside. Hardly any crosses. The headed goals came from defenders who came up for corners. Added to this, think how many goals Frank Lampard scored. From the centre of midfield, with his feet. Mikey would be brilliant in a system that employs the passing skills of Lamps and Robben.
Still, they won't buy him.
I'm not sure, but I should think that if the requested £7M arrives for Baros, and not so less a fee can be found for Dudek, then Benitez should be able to comfortably reinforce both the right-wing and defence, and toy with the idea of bringing back Owen.
Funny you should mention about Chelsea and Owen though, cause it was something I was wondering to myself earlier. I have a feeling Mourinho might not like him though since Bobby Robson - his mentor for four years - seems to prefer Craig Bellamy. Also, Owen isn't quite so reknowned for headed goals and given Chelsea's preference of playing with a lone striker and two outside forwards, prolific finishing in the air would be a must. Most likely the reason they've kept Drogba.
If Mikey is back in the Prem, he's in my fantasy football team just like that. I'm surprised Chelsea don't want him. He's giving any team 20+ goals a season, no doubt about it.
Strengthening the defence should be the priority at the moment I would think.
Wait, so they've bought them both? BOTH?
What exactly goes through the head of Perez? Exactly? Does he had a nervous tic where he has to go through about 20 cheques per day?
What about Michael Owen? Jeesus, I'd hate to see him at Arsenal even more than I'd hate to see him at Man Utd. One thing is certain though, he's bound to leave now.
Can we agree a £8 million + Peter Crouch deal?
