Go and grab yourself a guitar of any description and play the intro to All My Life by the FooFighters. Basically its just a G power chord but if you're rubbish at playing the guitar just play a G note. Listen to the song for the rhythm if you dont know it.

Now for the hard part.

Try singing along to it. Doesnt sound hard but it is. Singing and playing it at the same time is nearly impossible. It makes Dave Grohl even more of a ledgend IMO.

Neo-classical does have a point after all!

His stuff isn't *that* difficult though. He uses mostly the same techniques, and he's very, very, very, very well practised, which is his main gimmick.

Neo-classical guitar music is the most pointless thing ever though, so I'm glad he does this other stuff. Ever heard Racer-X with someone singing? Awful.

apparently he's covered Abba and the Osmonds as well.

Also, yesterday I watched a video of a 12/13 year old playing B.R.O and Frenzy. Obviously, my reaction was "..."

Just listening to that Spice Girls/Sabbath/Led Zep cover again, it's really good! Hate to admit it, but the Spice Girls had good songwriters. And Paul Gilbert talks exactly like how you expect him to (I've only ever read his website and heard him play guitar) - want to find his Guitar clinic albums now.

Umm... I thought that was because a lot of their songs have two guitars?

Jebus! It is hard, it's like impossible to sync, perhaps he recorded his guitar playing than sang over it. Thats what Billie Joe armstrong from greenday does, he cant play and sing at the same time which is why they have an extra guitarist when live.

:-)

Santana ~ Put Your Lights On came on just as I clicked on this thread.

Have you tried learning any South stuff yet? I'd love to be able to play Here On In, but can only find a tab for Paint The Silence (which is easy, 3 chords and a really simple riff), although I haven't actually looked that hard...
