*Post contains no spoilers* (even though we all knew what was going to happen anyway)

Went to an early morning showing which started at 1am this morning (which made me feel exceptionally geeky not to mention tired this morning) and speaking in the style of master Yoda, "like it you will".

George Lucas has nearly, very nearly, redeemed himself for the monumental balls-up that is EP1. The battle scenes (of which there are probably too many if you want to be overly critical, but I guess it is set during a war) are just stunning, the lightsaber fights are fantastic, and the Star Wars atmosphere is overall a bit more like the original series of films. The way the film ties all the ends together to set it up for A New Hope is also done brilliantly, and it left me with quite a satsified feeling to finally see the kind of closure we all knew was coming.

I'll leave the long-winded reviews which break down every aspect of the film in microscopic detail to others, and simply say it was a darn enjoyable film, not quite sure if you'd ever say it was better than EPs 4, 5 or 6, but it certainly dumps over EPs 1 & 2 from a very great height.

You can like watching Japanese scat-porn, doesn't make it a worthy thing.

Heh, that's me told. Liking it doesn't make it any less of a balls up though. IMHO.

I still haven't really watched the second one.
I've seen all of it in bits I think.

...Apart from it wasn't.

Though I'm sure Episode 3 will be great as well, looking forward to it.

It's actually got a fair mix. Some great reviews, Mirror/Empire/Hot Dog and some bad ones Daily Mail/Guardian.

Personally I liked the first 2 so I'm really looking forward to this.

I watched it this morning, and was thinking "this is great", and then I got out and realised all the things that were wrong with it.

I thought the start and the end were quite weak, but the middle was good. Although it featured Natalie Portman far too much.

But i liked it more than Episodes I and II. Plus CP30 didn't make any 'hilarious' one-liners, which was good. I was probably expecting too much from it to be honest.

I would assume that most of these negative reviews have focused too much on the so-called trite dialogue a bit too much. Sure it ain’t Shakespeare, but is that really what people should expect? Of course not. Who cares if it sounds a tad wooden every so often, it’s got Wookies, massive battle scenes with explosions, General Grievous and his cool electro-staff wielding henchmen, Darth Vader, more lightsaber action than all the other films put together, C3-PO being not overly camp, and loads more stuff that could be spoilers.
