Simple stupid question, those of you who drive, was it like a learning curve or was it just like "click" one lesson and you could do it?

I officially quit driving today until further notice, mostly because I fear for my own life whilst driving, also partly due to lack of money.

Is it just "one of those things" that some people do naturally and others struggle to adapt to, or am I just completely carp (yes, carp) at it for no understandable reason?

No, it's the other way around.
My mum's car is about a year old and has done about 6000 miles, wheeas my insturctors car has done about 70,000 miles.

I'd say it's the clutch being used so much has made it so loose that it's a lot harder to find the biting point.

And the steering's a lot better in my mums car.
And it accelerates faster.

It's because I want to try and get into a gap in the traffic flow at junctions fairly quickly, so I try to accelerate quite quikcly, which is easy in my mums car, but my instructors car is a lot slower.

You should try driving my car and that would throw the "it's easier to drive older cars" theory out of the window. No power steering, a manual choke and as of yesterday, the handbrake has decided to stick.

It's like a volatile pet in need of affection, if you treat it harshly it'll blow up in your face, literally.

I don't know why they do that - older cars are usually easier to drive, seeing as you can chuck the gears in from pretty much any angle you like. But I suppose that's not learning you very well.
