Good to know the Catholic church is looking to move forward, electing as they've done a new Pope who's against abortion, homosexuality, women priests, priest's marrying and who has spoken out against multi-cultural societies.

Still, he's an old one so hopefully he'll snuff it quick.

Darn it. I had it on good authority that the Ultimate Warrior was going to be the new pope.

Looks like I've failed in my bid to be the next pope. Ah well...

Thing is about Benedict XVI, he USED to be considered a very liberal clergyman about 20 years ago. Then, to gain the favour of a very conservative Pope, he got orthodox in a hurry. Now he doesn't have anyone to answer to. So maybe, just maybe, he won't be taking the church in quite so conservative a direction as everyone fears. Fingers crossed anyway...

The last pope looked like the fonz. (Or at least he did in the 70s).

This one looks like Hannibal Lecter.

Yeh Backwards, not Forwards seems to be the order of the day. I'm just interested to see whether he will also denounce contraception and allow AIDS to rage through Catholic countries. That was John Paul II's idea that shocked me the most. How amazingly short-sighted.

I'd vote for Light. And I bet I can make white smoke, so I'm better than those cardinals.
