Know anything about energy and stuff?

I'm off to the gym and since I don't eat breakfast I've just had a 'special K' bar with 90j or something energy in it. Is that alot for a little bar and an hours workout or not?

Also, when i'm working out, if my heart rate is between 100-150 thats fat burning and if my heart rate is over 150 thats cardiovascular. Is that right?

As you can see i'm new to the gym!

Don't know much about the body, but as a physicist, 90J of energy isn't a lot for a small bar. Good luck at the gym...

cheers!

My boyfriend has devised a little work out rota for me. I don't like the tread mills in the gym so I've decided to do stretches at home, then walk to the gym as a little work out. Good eh?

I've just recently started eating breakfast regularly again, and I feel much better for it.

I'd recommend trying to cut back from other meals, and do breakfast properly, if you're trying to cut back on the calories you're taking in.
You need some energy, and the right kind of breakfast provides it well. Might help you stop snacking on bad stuff later too.

I've spent ages trying to convince myself that gyms are pointless (if you run/cycle and do 'home exercices'), as I'm too cheap to get a membershup. But I reluctantly have to admit they are good for providing a bit of variety and somewhere to exercise while avoiding the general public.

Gyms are expensive. Just run around your back garden if you want to avoid the public. Should you be gardenless then just jog around your front room. Cheap yet just as effective as long as you have the determination to force yourself into doing enough.

A full meal before a work out is next to essential. So no, a bar is not enough. You should atleast have toast or cereal.

Also try energy drinks. They really work.

As for the heart thing. Low intensity work (jogging) is fat burning, high intensity is cardiovascular. It's not as precise as heart rate though.

Going up and down stairs 20 or so times is a good work out.

My gym is mega cheep.

It cost £3 for a year membership. £3 for an induction and £1 every time I go. These are student prices though. Not sure on non-student prices, you'll have to ask English_Bloke.

I don't eat breakfast. Mainly because I don't like cereal, or toast, and i'm fussy about how I have my eggs. I'm going to start eating breakfast but eat a boiled egg and a piece of brown bread just so I can dip it in the yellow eggyness.

I'm starting to get the impression that you're a pretty fussy eater.
