Just seen this film...is it one of them you have to watch over and over again before you understand it or is it just me?

To idiots, and it wastes their time, so yes, that's a good thing.

The only film i have seen recently that has taken a bit of thought afterwards was Hide and Seek...I thought that was a wicked film. Definately going to buy that when it comes out

If it's just "OK", why buy it?

Hugely overrated. Just like Vanilla Sky and every other over complicated movie that builds up to an anti climax where they place an improbable ending that saves the writer the hassle of writting a proper script.

Its as good as writting a story where the main character is stuck and then wakes up <- wahey it was all a dream.

In the case of Donnie Darko, the same thing applies only they go "Its time travel" dont question it, it explains everything.

I know a fair few arty / philosophy type people who really like this (nothing against them) I however Im not the type to dwell too deeply on anything lacking in logic. I think if you have a logical mind you will likely hate this. On the other hand if you like to contemplate the meaning of life now and then then this might be your thing.

Before they went in the cellar door i thought that it was going to be a main part of the story because of the teacher saying it to him and him remembering it, but then when they walked in and got taken outside again straight away i didnt really see the point

It was just to show him that him and remind him that he was being manipulated, everything is made to conspire against him.
