Right. I have spent hours trying to learn PHP, but mainly installing it. Is there any way that i can upload it to the internet considering my ISP is BT. If so, how? or what should i do? Thank you. Sorry to be an annoyance >.<

Hey Turbo, haven't seen you about for a while.

Is your real name Alex?

Your local IP is 127.0.0.1, or localhost. People can only see your server if they connect to your external IP, which you can find out by going to http://www.whatismyip.com. However, you will need to have port 80 open on whatever firewall you're using. If you have a router, you'll need to configure it to forward port 80 to your IP address on your lan, which you can find out from your network connection's status box, advanced tab I think. The configuration on your router will be listed as "port forwarding" or "virtual servers".

Should other people use the same IP to access the page?

I've started experimenting again (with the help of XAMPP) and I can see the home.php page through the network. How can I get people from other networks to see my site?

I used 'http://192.168.1.8/darkfx/home.php' on my laptop and it has recognized it

Well I've finished my website. I've installed XAMPP but I'm still unsure as to how I can make it accessible for other machines to view. I can't even see it over the network

Not really, if http://localhost/hello.php works then all anybody should need to change is localhost to your machine ip.

If you've tried accessing your machine from your laptop and you've got paged not displayed and you can then see entries in your apache log corresponding to your failed attempts to view the page then its most likely your apache config thats incorrect.

You set up apache yourself didn't you following a tutorial? Why dont you try this http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html its apache+php+some other stuff preconfigured for you, just installs like any other program doesn't require you to edit the config files at all to run and is set up to be accessible by outside machines by default. At the very least it'll make it easier to help you.

Thanks. There are logs of access, I'll see what my Dad says. He's also suggested that I type into the Address bar 'http://my.IP.here./apache/home.php' or something similar along those lines. (apache is what i called the rule in the port forwarding configuration) Would something along these lines be correct, perhaps?

Hmm..its difficult to suggest much more without being able to examine your apache & router config.

Goto your apache install directory, you should have a logs directory. Try accessing your server from your laptop again but afterwards look in the logs directory and open up access.log and error.log (they might have slightly different names) look at the end of them and see if you've any entries with a timestamp corresponding to your last attempt.
