I was meant to leave work at four o'clock yesterday. It had just turned four and I had one last job to do. Suddenly, a little boy caught my attention and made me follow him to his dad in the paint section (I work in a DIY store).

His dad asked me a question (I don't remember what it was). I told him I didn't know and that he should ask someone else. He told me to get someone else to come over. I said that I was busy and was meant to have already left. He said to get someone again. I told him he'd have to do it himself.

He came face-to-face with me and said "JUST GET SOMEONE ELSE!"
Almost taken back, I just defiantly stared back at him and coolly answered, "No..."

And I waltzed off juggling a roll of masking tape to finish my last chore.

In summary the customer is always right. Or in some cases wrong. But one things for sure, they are never right.

You didn't reward his aggression with the result he wanted.

He's probably less likely to try that again.

As far as I can see, the customer wasnt being rude until you decided not to help him Hibey, Id say you were being the rude one, it wouldnt have killed you to get someone else that could help, lesson 101 in customer services is, if you cant help the customer then ask someone to help who can.

When dealing with a rude/annoying/dumb customer, use the following line to get rid of him/her and possibly get a cheap laugh from better customers and co-workers...

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I subscribe to the theory of intellectual osmosis. As such, I must now cease our conversation and move away from you before my intelligence begins to drop. Good day.
