"X-Box will be crap compared to PS2"

Everybody here is saying that the X-Box is way more powerful than the PS2 just because the processor is 600mhz and the PS2 is 300mhz, you cant just compare the processor speed to gauge the actual performance of the system. The pentium in the x-box is 32bit external and 64bit internal, whereas the ps2 is 128bit, which means it has much higher performance, probably around 3 or 4 times more than a 300mhz x-box would be because if the 32bit external limit, so taking into account that the x-box is 600mhz that means that the PS2 is a third more powerful than the x-box.
This mistake people make is similar to the mistake people make when they think that the new G4 macs are slow compared to pcs just because their PowerPC processors are 500mhz, they infact have the capability to do a billion operations per second a thing that only very latest intel coppermine processors are able to do starting at the 866 one I think.

Anyway i hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

I hope the XBox is a success. I'll probably get one at launch as my DC is a bit long in the tooth now.

There are some great games lined up for the XBox, but the DC had some fantastic titles as well, and look what happened to that...

The PS2 won't fail, there is already such a large user base that there will be games coming out for it in 4 years time. They are still releasing PSX games for gods sake...

i won't be getting a x box when it first gets released...partly cos i have just bought a ps2...
but that doesn't mean i don't want an x box...just that i don't have any money anymore...
but i am quite scared of what will happen to it...it could either be a great success afterall or a flop (let's hope it is the former)...
personally i can't really see the ps2 failing....but i hope the xbox succeeds as well....
as for the gc...well the nintendo games really aren't for me....so i'll steer clear of it definitely...
i hope that consoles can live in harmony together (fat chance i know...but hey who said i can't dream)...

silent hill 2 will be coming to the xbox...
and so will metal gear solid 2 (with add features)....i think they add a few more gadgets cos i was reading the official ps2 mag....and the maker of it was saying that he wanted to put in the ability to drop surveillance cameras...but he wasn't sure cos of the processing power required might be too much....

Ok, well, XBox will have Fifa 2002, so thats ok, as well as Tony Hawks 2x AND Tony Hawks 3 WITH online play. Also, WTF is Star Wars Episode 2 Racer? Shut up.

Silent Hill 2, well, thats just another sequel for you.

here, here. I total agree that the x-box will be much better than the playstation 2. The PS2 is in my views poor and un-desirable as it is expensive and has unimaginatvie games that are aload of crap!!!!. Take these views into account becasue I once had one but since the drama of me finding out that the games were crap I have recently bought a much better and worth the money dreamcast! i used to own crazy taxi on the playstation 2 but i must say the graphs on the dreancast are out of this world compared to the shity ones on the PS2.

I've seen the X-Box working at Infogames running some of the smoothest footy graphics I've ever seen. And even better, a yet to be named game similar to MotoCross Madness has to be seen to be believed.
