The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED. A big thank you to those that took time to enter. A winner will be announced soon. Watch this space...
Glad you're still watching! Very sorry for the delay - there were some really good comments and suggestionss. A big thank you to everybody that took part!
The winner is (drum roll...) er-no! Thanks once again for all your valuble work.
Remember to enter all our other great competitions we have running at the moment.
We've made lots of changes to our Product Search facility.
As most of you will remember we had a very successful Gameaday competition on this a few months ago which was won by Meka_Dragon.
Now that most of the suggested changes have been implimented I would like us to do it again.
This one closes on June 7th
The prize will go to the person who finds the MOST VALID PROBLEMS across our WHOLE PRODUCT RANGE in the SEARCH FACILITY.
If you think you should be able to search on "Horror Movies", but nothing comes up, then add it to your list.
If you think people will mis-spell gran turismo, then add that too - but test it first.
Use short lists if possible but multiple posts will count together. i.e. all your posts on this subject will add up and count towards the prize.
I recommend you read the details of our searching process which you can click to from a link at Site Map. Basically we use the start of a word, so a search on "thunder" will find "thunderball". If several words are combined it must find all.
On the console-specific forums, there's a "Related products" box where you can link directly to buying the relevant machine.
Would it be possible to combine the forum posts with the search facility, and have an automatically produced list of products mentioned in the posts?
The system would search the posts on each page for products mentioned, and produce a 'purchase list'. It would not be feasible to have all the products listed at the bottom of the page, but there could be a "Buy discussed products" link or something.
Another option for this would be to have products underlined in the posts themselves, which could then be clicked on to bring up a product info/purchase screen.
So if part of my post says "I can't wait for Gran Turismo 3", the "Gran Turismo 3" part gets underlined and hot-linked to a seperate pop-up page with details of the game and the opportunity to buy it. This way, people don't have to leave the forums or manually open a new browser window to buy the game from you.
This is certainly possible, and I don't think it would slow down the pages too much. The only question is... do you think it's a good idea?!
It also didn't find Xtreme g either sort it out please.
