Several years ago, just as polygons were taking off and 2D games were thought to never be replaced, Shigsy Miyamoto was designing a new game. This was to be a 3D fighter unlike anything the world was to have seen. After spending years months working on the project he gave up. Nintendo were unable to create the game- it was too hartd to program.
Yet! In the same space of time, Sega had been making a very similar game to great effect. It was called Virtua Fighter, and the rest is history...
FAST-FORWARD TO THE PRESENT.
Nintendo are making Zelda 64. It is meant to take 2.5 years to make. Then it is delayed. And delayed. And delayed. Reason? It's taking longer than they thought (NOT they are perfecting it... perfection only takes a few months... the delays lasted a year and a half!)
Same story with many other of Nintendo's latest games.
So what's going wrong? Well, in my view one of 3things might be happening:
1) Overambition means that the games become so complicated they take a long time. However, if this is the case, then why should they underestimate the time needed to make the game so much?
2) The dev kits are too hard to work with. The is certainly a reason why Square abandonned the 64... but who programed the dev kit? Nintendo's r&d department!
3) Nintendo are simply bad at programming games. Now, I don't think that this is very likely... Ninty will use only the best programmers. However, these are the people who could not take to jump from 2d to 3d. Maybe they have not be trained in the new techniques being used, or do not have the flare shown by AM2- the team behing Virtua Fighter, F355,Shenmue and many many others!
So, that's the topic. I for one will wait as long as needed to play the next zelda... my 3rd fav game ever!!! However, while that's happening many other great games will be being made. There's something for u to debate over

I am not Biased I have a Playstation, it was the second console i got, and a DC they all have good and quality games, but i dont know why i just seem to go for the Nintendo games everytime!
Sony: 'Buy our consoles, the games are good and there are hours of FMV!'
Microsoft: 'Yep, now that we rule the PC market, we will monopolise the console market by using one of 45m strategies. What we can do is this........'
Nintendo: After their own Spaceworld show last year, Nintendo have to keep up their reputation for being the biggest and the best! Therefore they are gonna do whatever they can to make themselves stand out from the rest.
I'm not saying the the other consoles are rubbish, or dull, or boring, I'm just saying that Nintendo is bound to stand out! Microsoft don't make as many games as most developers, therefore they'd have to get permission from all the developers to show all the games that they want to show. Sony make a very small minority of games for their consoles so they'd have to get permission from even more games companies. Nintendo however make most games for their consoles and they part own Rare. So it's easier for them to stand out from the rest!

UMMMMM>..... for the last 3 years, the undoubted "winner" of E3 in all multiformat/unbiased mags or news sites has been sega hands down.
And thins year... hmmmmm... MS will be stiff competition

This sentence makes no grammatical sense- what's it mean? And who is he talking to.... Edgy or me????

It depends what Zelda Game you're talking about. My favourite game ever is Zelda 3: A Link to the Past, however I found the Gameboy version Link's Awakening, and Zelda 7: Majora's Mask boring!
Ocarina of Time was great, but Majora's Mask seemed to be very similar but having to do the same things again in the new game, collecting all the same items and running around chopping up the same baddies as before just seems to me to be a very poor effort by Nintendo.
They relied on the fact that the new Time system was original and that gamers would love that so much that they'd get blinded from seeing that it's the same game as Ocarina Of Time!
The Gameboy version seemed rushed to me! The dungeons were easy and there were even Goomba's in it! Why? They aren't part of the Zelda Universe! Maybe the Mario World, but Goomba's don't belong in a Zelda Adventure!
Also why does it mean that because you find a game boring, you're no good at it? There are plenty of games for all systems that I find boring, but it doesn't mean I'm no good at the games! Doesn't it mean the game is no good if it doesn't encourage you to play more and do better?
Try playing Tetris over and over again all day. you'll probably beat your high scores a few times, and you'll get to the highest levels, but it doesn't mean you're finding the game fun! You're more likely to get bored stiff playing it for so long!
Nintendo are good games designers, as are Sega, E;ectronic Arts, Team17, Microprose, etc. The fact that Nintendo takes longer to make games only supports this! They make sure the game is finished before releasing it. This means that you'll get games to the highest standard with little or no glitches and hopefully plenty of gameplay!
All games designers have their faults though! Someone here said that Mario 64 was perfect (or along those lines). however there were loads of glitches in that game! Especially with the camera angles where sometimes you could see through walls and floors!
There can never be a perfect game. It doesn't matter how realistic you can make it, or how much gameplay there is, or how good the controls are, you'll never be able to make the perfect game. There will always be something that can beat it somewhere!
