I have about a limited wannabe's knowledge of guitars, like I know what guitar I've got and that it's a strat and stuff but; what the hell are these things/what do they do:

Pick-up
Redresss the frets
Grub screws
Tone Pot


Also, anyone know any places on the web that tell you how to play?

Ican struggle my way through tabs but that's about it. No money can be expended by the way.

I got one after listeing to so many songs going "I want to be able to do that".

Being able to impress people would be a bonus.

Interesting, the opposite of the conventional. I'm shy and crap at guitar, but the only way you find out if you're any good is if people like what you play, or recognise the tab you're doing.

Technicality is important though.

I don't even play in front of people.
I use guitar as my 'special time' when I want to get away from everyone.

Depends on the crowd. The girls at my local seem to go nuts for shred soloing and pinched harmonics. So we put as many in as we can get away with!!

ALl you have to do is play one chord and make up some cheesy lyrics and they'll be all over you.
