Hello again folks.

Just thought we could have a nice cosy little vote on the best short story from all the SSC entries so far this year.

Yes, it does include anything up until 31st December, but you can vote now if you want. And, no, you can't vote for one of your own stories.

Now, I thought this would be a good little addition to the usual Short Story Comp because everyone can have a vote on this one instead of just the person who won the last one. It might bring up a few surprises (or Meka might win ;-) ).

How about it?

Oh, and someone else can tally up the votes on 31st December, as I may not be able to get online until later in Jan.

I'v actually made a start on the list so you'd better be serious about this. I didn't have anything better to do like start Novembers accounts, or either of my uni assignments, or Decembers invoices, or sending my customers parts they are waiting for, or ..

Hmm..

Looks like I did have something better to do but I've started it anyway :)

hm. How about a shortlist to help narrow it down.

Maybe we could decide on the best story for each person who has entered, then it would be a matter of deciding between those stories for an ultimate winner.

Now I just need a list of people who have entered since SSC1 and a list of all the stories they have written. Anyone fancy that task?

I can name ... about 10.
You're obviously rather hard to impress.

Same here - there's been tonnes of gold on here.
I dunno what threw so many great writers into one place, but it was very kind.

pb - good idea sir, I thought about doing a similar thang.
Rik - I remember an entry called "The Staircase of Depravity" that it?
FFF - the site has died along with my domains. :-(

And I vote for Meka's Ovrites Diet piece. The cheesecake one, yeah.

To be honest, condensing all the entries in the last year down to one winner now seems tremendously difficult. It's almost like denying credit to so many other brilliant entries from people across the board. I can't name and count the number of truly inspiring pieces I've read since SSC's formation using my fingers. Not even close.

Nice idea. Shame I can't remember the names of any of them.
Ash can, though - so you'll get at least 1 vote in here.

Maybe if he updated the SSC website (oh yeah, that thing) ...
