OMG it's 4.10am and my animation is still rendering :( i still have to put all my mocies together and add music. Then at 8.20am get up and walk in to uni for a 4 hour lecture in which a very tired me will present my animation.

It's all been going wrong here. My 'copy' of premiere has funked up it won't let me use the mpeg 4 codec that i have to use. Now using virtual dub to put them together but this means no fading transitions :( . One of my renders failed twice which means i have to leave it out.

My presentation is a critical review of my project so far. (so far it's looking shoddy) They are going to rip me apart :( i mean yeah the smoke and the lighting rocks but cause of teh transitions i'm screwed. I was on a first for the project so far now this is going to bring me down to like a 2.1 then i just gotta hope the final version gets me another first.

My brain hurts. I have learnt that 3d animation is too unstable to leave to the night before. Theres a lesson there kidds.

If i get the time tomorrow i will post a link to my animation. It's only 30 seconds and it's for a bbc-i channel Spark. Which i happen to do student stuff for.

Well off to finish it all. Had a rant feel abit better head hurts though.

Did another variation of the material on the fire this time with more noise on it. i think this one looks much better than the other too bu it's still not as good as i want.

the first one is too "fluffy" for sure but the fractal noise one looks pretty damn good dude!
perhaps a tad less "snakey" though, fire tends to lick before it curves to that degree.

For entertainment and general interest it is not recommended that you ignore Chippxero or Very_metal for the purpose of this thread :P

i am trying to make it using materials on an object, the first version i have just worked on for 20 mins doesn't look too bad. going to keep working on it i think i can get it looking quite good.

fire's a pain.. you'll end up using the atmosphere helpers and stuff i imagine...

at the moment i'm working on some titles for dvd (company logo/persons name, etc) so not really my usual kind of animation but it's going ok. very different from telling a story though.

The microbe is 65,280 polys (My god just had to look up how to get poly counter up, i'm such a noob).

Yeah i modelled the whole thing it is just a geosphere turned in to a editable poly then just bevelled the polygons out 3 times to get the tenticles. Applied a mesh smooth and noise to it giving it the random effect.

hows the animation going?

I am working on creating fire next i have seen a load of fire tutorials but they look kinda fake, so i am going to try to make it another way.
