Firstly, as some people on this forum will know, I was an avid Xbox fanboy. After managing to mature and open my doors to other areas of gaming, I was introduced to the Gamecube by my fellow forum friends (emphasis on the alliteration) and purchased one to see what it was like. Impressed with what was on offer I bought many games, until, due to financial circumstances, it had to go.

Bring forward one year, I've shed my love for the Xbox and repurchased a Gamecube. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox is a great console, it's just it didn't interest me anymore. I became fed up with "Realistic Racer #121531443" and all of the 'realistic games' that are on offer. Gamecube had that 'thing', the 'thing' that puts the fun into gaming once again. I remember playing the Amiga and loving all the quirky little games like James Pond and Super Frog, all that just isn't really there on say the PS2 or Xbox.

It's these games that are unique, they offer that fun factor that anyone can play. Which leads me onto the title of the post, The Gamecube made me realise that Nintendo really do make fun games, proved by a session on Mario Kart: DD yesterday with my family. Thats right, you heard it, my family for christs sake. The controls were easily adapted to by my Mum and Dad and my brothers and sister enjoyed the frantic racing.

"So what? I play with my GC with my sisters and brothers all the time" I hear you cry, well lets put things straight here, other then myself, my family never ever played with me on my Xbox, the games were just too complicated for them to really understand. With Mario Kart, you just pick up the game, press A and go. There's nothing more to it, it sounds boring on paper, but it's as funny as hell in the game when you manage to plant a green koopa shell in the back of your sisters kart.

Yeah, it might of just been a Christmas thing, but It's made me realise that the Gamecube is a fun console to have and holds the potential for excellent multiplayer gaming.

It's made me realise that the Gamecube is, for once in my life, a console that I will keep until it's replaced with the next one up.

Heres to the future.

Indeed, El Pianta (or whatever he was called) rules anyday. I loved the races against him, reminded me of racing the fellow in 64 to the top of the mountain.

Oh and to Gamesfreak - Paper Mario 2 is very worth getting. I highly recommend it.

Heh, awesome!

Mario RPG? I would of never of thought it'd be something like that.

It's the first game on my list after completing Tales of Symphonia.

Nooooo! It's an RPG, a very good, very playable RPG, that is funny, big, not too taxing but enjoyable, cleverly laid out and damn good. Damn Damn good.

A picture? Sounds thrilling :P.

Quickly - Summarise for me if Paper Mario 2 is worth getting, what exactly does it involve? Is it Mario Sunshine/64 in 2D?

Well you did get a picture with all the Sunshine characters in.

But it replaced the on where that strange man finds the paint brush stuck in the sand. Which I thought was cool.

Likewise, although I still couldn't be naffed with those blue coins as you get nothing exta.

Getting all the pearls gives you a couple of minigames the Ubi team made which are quite amusing to play.

No I've done them, it's just the odd one or two littered in a few tiny areas.

I got most of them, it was just a few I didn't get.

And to be honest I can't be bothered to go back to it for a few pointless pearls. The game wasn't fun enough for me to bother.

Not saying the game wasn't fun, far from it, just that Mario Sunshine was an immense game. One of the best I've ever played.

Beyond Good and Evil was just damn damn good.

The extra pearls aren't in dungeons. They're in secret areas with great platforming puzzles which you probably haven't been in before.

Think about the chore of getting the pearls in Beyond Good and Evil, going back through those frustrating dungeons with the slightly clumsy control system. Or the fun factor of re-visiting and searching Mario Sunshine's deepest areas.

That's how it works with me. The fact is I didn't enjoy Beyond Good and Evil enough to want to get that extra thing.

Same with Resident Evil, make no mistake I love the games, but do the game with limited saves on harder settings to get silly little modes?

Nah, think I'll pass.

First off you find getting all the Sunshine Blue coins fun!
Even when you get no reward!
Fair enough if you're a search-a-holic.
But now you won't get all the pearls on Beyond Good and Evil, even if I promise you a very special reward?

Think about that! ;-)
