Answer: Because they think they will be able to take it over like that, make a load of cash and be one step nearer to owning your brain.
I think MS should just stick to what it's good at. No, not PC OSs, as anyone who have used Linux will tell you, but small apps like IE, Outlook Express (not 2000) and Excel. Maybe Word. Everything else is just total bloat. Did you know, that laser printers cause a miniscule amount of Ozone (toxic). If you were to print out the Windows source code, you kill half the amazon rain forest?
Anyway, Microsoft are cheating. The X-box is using lastest third party hardware, and will be way expensive. And, have you seen the size of the thing! Basic unwritten console law states a console must have a max size of an A4 piece of paper.
Also, MS have no heart, because all they want to do is conquer the market. I believe Sony, Nintendo and Sega actually enjoy making millions of people happy.
Impressive as the specs are, I believe the X-box will fail. Let's face it.
a) It's a small PC
c) It's Microsoft
d) It runs off Windows, for god's sake!!!

Not buying something because it's MicroSoft is stupid,

The munch's oddessy game looks good donit!
a) DC used Win CE, not the version X-box

Still, as far as I know, it was a pretty solid version of Windows...
the X-Bow will be using a new version of Windows... not Win95-ME, so it too should be suitably stable...
b) Everyone who has had to work with WinNT and Linux will

They both have their strengths and weaknesses... If your a business then different situations require different OS's... In a lot of cases WinNT/200 range is a preferable option to Linux...
Besides, Unix beats Linux hands down...
What release have you used anyway? Only ever tried redhat/debian

Damn right!!!
Oh, and
a) DC used Win CE, not the version X-box will,
b) Everyone who has had to work with WinNT and Linux will no that Linux seriously assaults WinNT's anus. Mightily.
As I said, Microsoft also have some good gaming hardware out, and some decent apps too. It's really just their home operating system family (95/98/ME) that I don't get on with.

Don't

Isn't it only people who know a bit about computers that hate microsoft?
Most people who buy console don't know that much about PC's. They see Microsoft as a great company who makes the thing thier PC runs.

Well thats half the Rainforest gone... You can bet that whilst the cubicled MS minions were writing their section of the OS that they all printed out their code several times over...
Anyway, Microsoft are cheating. The X-box is using

Why is that cheating?
and will be way expensive. And, have

What unwritten law is this?
Also, MS

Nope... they want to conquer the market too

a) It's a small PC
I think weve all seen how the PC failed after its few couple of months...
c) It's

Microsoft too, never had a success in their entire careers...
d) It runs off Windows, for god's sake!!!
Didnt the Dreamcast use a version of windows?
Maybe as you buy the console, games and accessories, you could accumalate air miles to use on Virgin flights ;-))
