Question: Why have Microsoft entered the console market?

Answer: Because they think they will be able to take it over like that, make a load of cash and be one step nearer to owning your brain.

I think MS should just stick to what it's good at. No, not PC OSs, as anyone who have used Linux will tell you, but small apps like IE, Outlook Express (not 2000) and Excel. Maybe Word. Everything else is just total bloat. Did you know, that laser printers cause a miniscule amount of Ozone (toxic). If you were to print out the Windows source code, you kill half the amazon rain forest?

Anyway, Microsoft are cheating. The X-box is using lastest third party hardware, and will be way expensive. And, have you seen the size of the thing! Basic unwritten console law states a console must have a max size of an A4 piece of paper.

Also, MS have no heart, because all they want to do is conquer the market. I believe Sony, Nintendo and Sega actually enjoy making millions of people happy.

Impressive as the specs are, I believe the X-box will fail. Let's face it.

a) It's a small PC

c) It's Microsoft

d) It runs off Windows, for god's sake!!!

opinions?

I don't think it's acceptable, but the home version is cheaper, and so evidently wont be as good as the more expensive 2000. I do think that ms should sort out the home version, but XP isn't the way to go, I'm just pointing out that not every version of windows suffers from these problems.

Also, a console being "based on (insert o/s here)" doesn't mean that it will boot up and take you to a desktop with a cursor and a screenful of icons (if you're me..), it just means that parts of the underlying source are taken from that o/s.

But it won't be based on win2k, as it costs a bomb in $$$ and even more in mhz.

And using the excuse "it's a home version" is even worse. You think that just because it's for home users it justifies a faulty product, which basically that's what it is. That's a disgusting attitude to take.

You're still finding faults that only seem to apply to the home version. I can have 2k on for weeks, as it can actually recover the system resources, unlike 98/ME

because windows does crash more than any OS

let's face it, any version of windows doesn't go a month without crashing. It's impossible without leaving your PC off all the time

You must have had a dodgy psx

What makes you think a MS console id more likely to crash, simply because it's made by microsoft?

If you're going to argue about OS, I've crashed Linux plenty of times - and that's without anything to do with games.

Thats a game I'd like to see on PS2 in the near future - Red Alert 2. Good game that ;-) Love being England and using Sniper's to take out the infantry as they approach ;-)) Especially that damn Tanya bird ! A good Sniper soon shuts her up when your friend has a habit of sending the nasty little witch over - Die !!!!! >:-)))

If you got to the last level of Red Alert and didnt save its your own bloody fault!

The same could happen on any console, not just one developed by MS!
