After Mike Riley's performance (*cough* crap *cough*) do we have ANY decent in the Premiership AT ALL?
What's happened to Collina joining from the Italian league?

His name's Steve Bucknor.

He's umpired many many international tests, as well as an international football game and some league football games.

And then there's the fact that umpires don't have to deal with people diving, trying to get a penalty/free kick, and incidents which quite easily could be fair/foul.

Comparing umpires to referee's is like comparing a printer to a scaner.

I had no complaints with Riley making poor decisions when the case was ambiguous, as there barely were any.

I criticise him for his methods and his mistakes in cases where a more appropriate decision was clear.

Yes, that comparison was quite appalling.

Bouncer from pace bowler = 0.27 seconds to point of incident

Yorker from pace bowler = 0.22 seconds to point of incident

For an umpire to focus on the exact point of the body where the ball is going to, is the same as a referee has to see where the players make contact. Only umpires cannot see a situation developing.

Exactly, and rarely will umpires have other players obstructing their view. You see it all the time with footy referee's. Melee in the penalty area; if you're the wrong side of bodies in an incident you have no hope in hell of seeing what's going on.
