I had several emails like this one, and a similar one which happened to be genuine. The latter was referring to a specific item, though this isn't a surefire way of determining its genuinity.

Best way is to log on to your ebay account through your browser and see its status... if all is fine, then it's a fake.

I gotta confess when I read the email in the original post, I didn't think anything of it until someone piped up "scam".

Bad grammar or spelling is usually a telltale sign I always rely on, but the very few that were in this one slipped my eyes completely.
