Got my 2nd certificate, wont be long till I get my 3rd at this rate. Don't they do a million certificate for Gflops? Or is it for 100million? I guess my next lot will be 1 Year CPU time and 1 million Points (8million Gflops right?)
Gflops 6th
Jobs 4th (2nd tomorrow)
Hits 3rd
Molecules 4th (2nd tomorrow)
Days 6th
For jobs/Molecules we're in 56th that's kinda bad but atleast the guys ahead with Gflops are behind us. For hits we're doing a lot better in 45th position, I guess that's because of you and Aoe. 57th for Days, coming up to 4 years worth. Ah just had a stats update, 2 jobs done another 24,000Gflops for me. I think I've almost run all 4 computers for a week now. 510,000Gflops 71 jobs 31 days of CPU. I guess it would be a lot more if my brother left his new computer for 24/7 only getting about 3 days worth of CPU and doing the same amount of work as his old PC but for 7 days. Would be on 650,000Gflops then. Would rather have a million a week ;P
> EDIT - Nothing, all worked I see.
Ah excellent :) and I've gone up even more despite 3 big jobs about to finish in the next few hours. I was thinking of getting one of the old PCs to do Proteome, they don't seem to bad. Cheers for the advise (RE; CPUs,etc.) and letting me bug you about FAD with questions hopefully tomorrow we'll go back into 51st place.
That and we've lost two more members, 6/20
84,904 till #50 of course there are several larger groups behind us who are outproducing us by a vast amount so we'll probably end up 53 again.
More power allows for more features, which require more power.
I'd be going AMD. The P4 is just an inefficient architecture, which is why an Athlon 64 at 2.4 GHz gets a rating of 3800. It's not to say they aren't powerful, they are, just they need to ramp up the clock speeds to make them powerful as opposed to having a good architecture to begin with. Besides, Intel just scrapped plans for the 4 GHz P4, so you'll either have to wait until next year for dual core, or a Pentium M based processor for the desktop, or go for dual Xeon's.
Or just get Athlon 64s. Or if you want really fancy, a dual Opteron.
