A very disappointing showing from our Weslh boys, and to be honest England didn't get out of second gear. 'Twas quite a boring match, and it was simply a case of 'Hello, we are England, we are basically much better than you and we are going to take this easy.'

If it weren't for a few greedy individuals our boys would have been humiliated completely. Beckham's goal was sweet mind.

And you can tell England and Wales hate each other:

'And now can we have a minute's silence please'

'F**k off Wales'

'F**k you'

etc...

Anyone else watch the match?

So why does Sven always pick Hargreaves?

Ha, I was right once again, Owen and Beckham must stay. :P

If we're gonna play two up front gotta be Owen and Rooney, though Rooney HAS to pass a little more often. Both were great though whilst Defoe was kinda non-existant. Beckham was top stuff too, but I think if Wales had involved Giggs and especially Bellamy more it would've been a much tighter game.

And Hargreaves rules, by the way.

I honestly think the English team played wonderfully.

Beckham's goal was well deserved, he was putting in wonderful crosses, playing fantastic long balls and if not for a superb save from Jones could have scored 2.

Yes we know, Roony made a bad mistake when he decided to shoot rather than pass the ball. But like Beckham's rash challenge that one error should be go against how well he played.

Also credit to Owen, he is normally quiet and picks up the ball when it appears at his feet. But he really went for it, there were a few runs where he weaved through the defence, shame he never finished it. Roony was the same, he got into so much space and the defence couldn't deal with him.

Owen, Roony, Beckham, Ferdinand, Campbell and Butt all had superb games.

Defoe sorta died and so did Hargreeves when he came on. Smith also had an uninspiring 20 minutes, although he was so calm in the penalty area when giving the ball to Roony. Which was his only real moment.

Lampard was ill placed but besides that I was pleased with the game.

Sven is fantastic.

Genuine question, how much have you/do you see of Owen Hargreaves at Bayern Munich? Judging from this - very little.

Yes, which is why we are unbeaten in 17 qualifiers!!!

Blimey even when we win you moan, so quick to criticise yet so slow to praise.

Defoe was one of our worst performers, he was nowhere, and contributed nothing at all.

Owen showed slight glimpses of what he can do, but he was dissapointing aswell.

Rooney was far too greedy (well, he is fat :P ) and he could have passed on many occasions, but he opted to waste the chances.

All-in-all, I think the 3-striker system could work well, especially when all 3 strikers have a semi-decent game, but it needs time to happen.

I'm still kicking myself for missing most of the game, but from what I saw, England's attack was quite effective- three up front may be the way to go if there's such a "shortage" of left-wingers (Or, omission of Alan Thompson).

Beckham's goal was pretty amazing, but his booking was stupid and avoidable- and despite the fact England won't be playing against a world-class team in their next match, without him they always seem to lack flair. Nevertheless, a well-deserved win on the road to qualification.

Are you kidding?

Rooney's one of the best finishers and readers of the game I've seen. I don't think he'd need lessons on either of these from Nistelrooy.

Good result, solid but incredibly dull performance and absolutely nothing like the blood and guts derby i thought it would be, well apart from Beckham's totally stupid retaliation to Thatcher. But must say through very gritted teeth, good goal. First thing you've done for a good year or so

Rooney obviously seems to have been taken lessons from Ruud on how and when to pass but unfortunately it seems they haven't gotten to the actually sticking it in the net after being selfish bit yet. Otherwise pretty good display with the holding role in between the midfield and attack.

Owen looked a little bit more dangerous than as of late with a couple of good runs through the defence, good luck trying to claim that though :-D

Defoe - was he on the pitch? I saw his name on the team sheet and him come out the tunnel but did he make it on the pitch?

The defence was very good with what little they had to do, very composed and good passing it along the back as well, no more punting it up the pitch, we were actually passing it out of trouble.

Lampard good as usual

Butt - would have preferred maybe King in that role or someone else, but he did the job. Fair play to him

Jones had a cracking game though, kept Wales in it. Shame he can't do that for Wolves as well

Also think i heard booing during the Welsh national anthem, if it's true that's a big shame. Show some respect eh lads
