Now, i am considering getting either of the following, a 14" top spec (the max everything can go) iBook. OR, a 12" PowerBook, with low to medium specs.

What do you think would be the better option.

I prefer the look of a powerbook, and it's modemness, but is there that much differance?

I can see myself, in the next year or so, losing my entire PC and replacing it with a sweet little Powerbook.

Not paying for it would help speed it up :D

My advice? Follow Timmargh's. Go for the best Powerbook you can afford. It'll be more value for money in the long run.

Macs won't ever rival PCs in terms of volume, but they're not trying to. And one incident of bad customer service doesn't mean that it's all crap. Most people who put Apple down have never had any experience with them or their products and rely on third-hand gossip.

Anyway, back to the topic ...

It's down to you, really. The PB will be more powerful (duh!), has Airport and Bluetooth built-in and is very portable. The iBook is, erm, not these things but is cheaper.

If it was me, I'd get the smallest PB and kit it out as much as I could afford.

No... they never will rival them... but they are still a worthy brand to support, especially for the ordinary home user.

Hmmmm...... I'm still not convinced that Macs will ever rival the "IBM Compatible" PC. Damn that brings back the good ol' days....

I know someone with an iBook who spilt his drink all over it. Not only did they replace the keyboard and damaged hard drive, they gave him extra ram on top of that.

Oh come on! They take for granted the fact that people with Apple's will stick by them, so they treat them like s**t. I know someone who had a problem with their Mac, and the customer service was shocking - even worse than someone like Viglen or PC World!!!
