lol pretty much, dont do it, you wont like it 90% of those on scholarships just cant wait till their signing off date. 3 yrs naff pay and no fundemental basis for employment plus skill fade, because all youll be doing is sat in an office or if youre lucky loan service to a warzone. For the other gent on here im a radar technician by trade. Has now been renamed guided weapons systems engineer. if its fired from the ground to an aircraft then i fix it.

So.... basically what you're saying is that new recruits are a shambles and can't run to save their lives?

I have a chance then.

ps the training is nothing nowadays... somebody had a heart attack on mine. The state of folk coming through today is appalling. Straight on the doctors chit destined never to go anywhere and dodge every conceivable physical task piling the work on the fit.

well the honest opinion is dont do it. Im a sergeant, soon to be staff sergeant, every day youngsters who have just finished their degree in klingon turn up having wanted to do the military thing. They get fast tracked to officer lt. It pains me to hear the fraudulent uses of what we refer to as B**s*** english. The over appropriation of the word ya! Andt the general stripping of morality and self expression and they hug round senior officers ingesting bad jokes and hardily guffawing in laughter. Your pay will be terrible as well about 14 grand. Set yourself a backbone in the job of your choice and get the initial stages of workmanship and professionalism through with. Wish id completed my finals and become an architect all those years ago.

In general its a fraudulent misconception that 'junior' time spent in the forces will attract people to your cv rather than set yourself up with a stereotype. Leave find a reputable company, start work, and set your goals knowing you dont have to give one years notice to leave as we all have to.

That's rather interesting indeed AUXRADAR... The navy work it that they pay you between £12 and 14K a year whilst at uni for the full degree, then pay you a salary thereafter for two years, then your full salary after you enter normal service.

The latest pay review seemed to indicate that was the way it was for all the services.

So what exactly do you do with SAMs then? What ones you been working with?

Hmm, very intersting. Earlier today I was just looking at military work after graduation/during uni, not because of the sponsorship, but for something different to do before I settle in to a normal city job. It's also something I want on my records before I die.

What are the initial training sessions like?
