Near the end of the special show an ITN cameraman actually got into the gym where everyone had been held, the roof had collapsed (chechen rebels had rigged it with 14 explosive charges) while people were still inside and apparently some 100 bodies lay inside.
The chechens then fled to some buildings nearby and were holding a sustained firefight with the russian military.

I can't, it wasn't my thought, i was just using it to try to get you to see why the Americans feel their doing the right thing.
I never said that it was true either, and i never said that it justifies the escolating, open, mass military conflict around the world. I was just saying that, to an American, it seems to be working. I'd hoped that my goal was obvious in the initial post, it seems it wasn't. All i wanted to do was to highlight why, to some, the war on terror seems to be the right way to go.

I thought the ITN coverage was superior, at least they had a guy actually in the school reporting what exactly was going on.
