I was watching this on the news (from about 10:30-14:00) and i have to say i found it rather exciting, obviously it was a terrible ordeal for everyone involved. Especially the poor kids that were practically naked, apparently when they asked for a drink they were told to strip, their clothes were doused with water and they were told to suck the moisture out. Pretty grim stuff.

Near the end of the special show an ITN cameraman actually got into the gym where everyone had been held, the roof had collapsed (chechen rebels had rigged it with 14 explosive charges) while people were still inside and apparently some 100 bodies lay inside.

The chechens then fled to some buildings nearby and were holding a sustained firefight with the russian military.

I can't help but note the irony of someone who cries injustice at the murder of so many of his fellow countrymen, then has a tagline 'Happiness is a warm gun'.

Well the overwhelming majority of the people who heard this brain fart agreed with it, and the War on Terror isn't really unpopular oer there is it, especially as most Americans are still post 9/11 paranoid? So i'd say many Americans do feel the same as the fellow who made the remark in the first place.

Hi there, everybody!

Just look what you wrote! Just think of what you're trying to say
You are trying to acquit child killers calling them rebels... I can't believe that!

--------------------quote----------------------
1) Russian troops have killed anything between 20,000 and 150,000 civilians in the second Chechen war alone.

2) They have promulgated rape as policy.

3) Killings, disappearances and torture are standard.

4) As are arbitrary detention, shootings and looting.

5) Russian troops consciously target civilians, according to human rights organisations.

6) They target children, too, with bombs disguised as toys - a little trick they learned during the invasion of Afghanistan.

7) Where is the outrage about that?
--------------------quote----------------------

You forgot only one thing - Chechnya is the territory of Russia since so what the hell arabs are doing there? And I tell you that they are trying to use this conflict to stole a big fat lot of Russia with oil inside. And it's not a civil war - it's invasion. My told me how she was playing with Checchen children when she was a child.

You can say anything but I wouldn't believe that russian troops killed over 20000 - 120000 civilians. Civilians don't fire weapons, don't capture children and don't put bombs into the planes. Many of my friends returned from Chechya dead or with death in their hearts and eyes. They just finished school or university they were only 18-21 years old. And these boys got head to head with professional, well-trained, fierce and violent forces. So who told you that these boys, who were children themselves not so long ago could target children with bombs, masked as toys??? What the hell?

You can believe me, you can not, truth will stay the same.

Though I'm doing a silly thing, I tried to explain the roots of Russian-chechen conflict. I was just wondering what do people of other countries think about all this terrible invasion in Beslan. Especially those who holds one of the leaders of terrorists. And it can't get out of my head that our grandfathers fought the second world war together and you're thinking of my country as an enemy! We have Chechen conflict, you have Nothern Ireland. We both had many mistakes so let's just forget them live and work as friends and partners!

I'm 24. Yes, I'm an ordinary russian guy who loves his wife, his parents and his country. Yes, I like the Beatles, I like to read Oscar Wilde. I respect your country so, please, respect mine.

Certainly can; it was the Bill Hicks board. Which, despite being the official site of the great man himself, is not nearly as good as it could be thanks to the everpresent trolls and lunatics. Still, there's a ton of diamonds amongst the pap so it's worth a look.

As opposed to the US, who refuse to even release the figures for civilian casualties in Iraq?

So that one American you heard it from; he speaks for the whole nation does he? America generally feels that they've suffered fewer attacks under Dubya? Isn't that just as bad as taking the example of one stupid american and implying the whole nation is much the same?

Yes, and you've done so; to make the war on terror seem the right way to go, people have to actively lie to themselves in order to justify the state sanctioned terror and deny that there is any motive for the terrorists themselves.

Lets just restate that cos I want you to be absolutely clear; the only reason that this war on terror has any positive press whatsoever is because of lies on the part of the people who are gaining from it.

Perhaps, but you can't deny their courage.

Thought there'd been a civil war thingy going on there since the split up of the USSR...

They should make me king then I'd stop all these daft hooligan types kicking up bother! I'm sure they're just foreign schemie's and if you gave them all a shell suit and a bottle of Buckfast they'd be happy enough.
