I know some of you will point out the fact that, in spite of the loss compared to last year's earnings, Nintendo has still accrued a profit to the tune of $600,000,000. While that is a large sum of money it needs to be realized that the amount of that profit is not too far from being HALF of their previous year's profits. That means that Nintendo has that much money LESS to put into things like research and development for things like new games and new systems. Also, game companies are less likely to put their time and money into a company that posts losses as massive as 43%. If this trend continues, it could have some nasty repercussions. People could lose their jobs (I feel sure some heads have already rolled after the news of a profit loss this significant), for one thing. And companies will not want to invest in another company that will not post a meaningful profit for their efforts. So yeah, Nintendo still posted a profit. But when that profit is in the shadow of a previous year that was 43% HIGHER, then the 'profit' tends to lose significance. Just some things to consider.

The Gamecube is costing Nintendo big and sagging sales are a large part of their problem, ditch the deadwood before it's to late.

I don't think that any GC software should be shunted on to Revolution.

All that means is that you have to pay £200 for a new system that plays the exact games that you could get on your previous system. It also leads to underwhelming games. Just look at Animal Crossing.

Zelda and Mario 128 and Resi 4 are good ways to get people into GC when its cheap, and make them anticipate the revolution and what can be done with it.

Also, if Zelda and Mario were launch titles, that means we wouldn't get any NEW launch titles. So we get less good games. This isn't a good idea for anybody.

I agree.

That's why I think that the Revolution is a waste of time and money, because there'll be little that they can't just do on the Gamecube.
Nintendo will just end up getting caught up, trailing in Sony and Microsoft's corporate fund-spilling ratrace.

But if Dringo's right, and Nintendo DO know what they're doing...

... we could be controlling those images on our TV with backflips, splits, frowns, glares, moonies... the possibilities are endless! :-O

They may always sway it, but they may be right this time.

Think about FLUDD, how many other games have included something similar?
And being able to change the direction of Wind was something new too.

It's not as if they used boring old stuff.

And it's called Revolution as a CODENAME, if codenames were true, then all the Gamercube games should have been based around dolphins, surely.

It's not as if they're magically going to make completely new styles of games for the Revolution, are they?

So, I'm right.

I'm always right.

Oh Munn Nintendo always say that.

FLUDD was apparently at risk of being stolen, hence the reason it took so long for Sunshine to be shown.

Fludd was obviously at risk of being adopted into other platformers, I mean look at the amount of platformers that have used it since.... oh.

They did the same thing with Windwaker.
Need I say more? :-)

What Dringo means it that you won't even use a Joypad anymore once the revolution comes out. From now on you will be made to spin, balance, dance and sniff your way through games, in ways you never imagined!

Well, it'll still be a platformer at heart. Otherwise it wouldn't be Mario.

Didn't Nintendo not tell anyone anything about Mario 128 because of all teh new features etc that they felt may be stolen?

Sounds like a totally new type of game to me.
