The Gamecube is costing Nintendo big and sagging sales are a large part of their problem, ditch the deadwood before it's to late.

I think that might have something to do with the way you mind has been working. I still play Double Dash multiplayer now.

That I do disagree with.
The courses were better and the controller felt better to play it with.

Shame I disagree with you... a little.
I prefer the racing in Double Dash to 64.
BUT the battle mode in MK64 was better. Much better. I couldn't really get into the one in MK:DD.

When did Nintendo say these games would change the series? They didn't, they never said that these games would change the world.
All Nintendo wanted to avoid was there clever new ideas into sparking life into their old franchises won't be nicked by other competitors.
The ideas in Mario Sunshine, the Cel-shaded effect in Zelda... both of these were new ideas to the franchise. Nintendo never said they were major, or revolutionary, just different and clever.
I'd disagree, in Mario's sense anyway, that there was anything REALLY new there. But there was some changes, and they were good. Nintendo are promising to change gaming forever with The Revolution and The DS. They never said Mario or Zelda would do that, only that they don't wanna get their ideas stolen.
And to be honest they do get nicked alot.
Take Mario Kart: Double Dash, it wasn't a GREAT increase in game design but there was a little change in there that was both clever and fun. Hence the reason Nintendo announced it at E3 and released it by Christmas. It had a few nice new ideas in it and Nintendo didn't want them stolen.
I don't re-call Nintendo EVER saying it was going to change the franchise forever. They didn't even say that about Metroid and they have changed that franchise forever.
Now onto Munn. Mario 128 will be a different and unique game in the sense of a traditional game, a bit like Metroid Prime is a unique game and Pikmin is a unique game. But that does not mean that it'll be suited to Revolution, Revolution's unique games will pale in comparison to its competitors, at least that's what Nintendo want us to believe.
In fact rumour has it that Mario 128 is actually more like Super Mario World in 3D than anything that revolutionary. But Nintendo are just staying tight lipped so their ideas don't get nicked. And Nintendo always say that about every major release over the last 3 years.
I might have lost a little faith in Nintendo last September. But after pikmin 2, Paper Mario 2, Metroid Prime 2 and Four Swords. It's safe to say faith is restored.

Oh Munn Dringo always does that.
To force it on every game would alienate their userbase and irritate developers.
